Well we got demolished 6-2 by a team you just beat.
Oh dear....

I thought they were clearly better 1 and 2, we looked quite tired and disjointed. But turned it on its head in the third, very impressive. Possible that Rich held them back for the third? Seemed like a fresh team on the ice.

Great comeback win, showed a lot of character and also goes to show if we play the high tempo hitting game it gets results. Guptil’s finish was a snipe and Pither doing what he does best.

I'm waiting for Devilsdude to give his take on that!! Well they've gone from 'champions no matter how hard others try' to defeated in 20mins so it may take a while for a post to appear.....

Devils look so composed and the players just know where their line mates are. Play like this every game and we will be champions again no matter how hard others may try. Bowns playing really well also. On the plus side Steelers losing 2-0 to stars and of second I stand by what i said on the other thread. I feel its a one horse race this year. Devils look a level above everyone else. They have the best players on paper and look the best drilled team ive seen. Noones looked like they can put the Devils on the back foot for any sustained length of time. We're giving it a good go, but we cant open you up. And couple of chances for Devils and boom 2 goals down. Way to show me up Panthers, but more than happy you did. Devils will be kicking themselves for switching off in that first 10 seconds. That goal got us into the game. It was a great period from the team but several players really stepped up. Pither - big game player Farmer Guptil - What a find, was a constant threat that period Hughes - Massive goal and what a hit

I thought we had enough experience and quality to see the last period out tbh.
I personally would have rathered 2mins power play instead of the penalty shot as it would have took the clock to around 3mins left. That was the turning point in the 3rd period imo.
Pither just showed exactly why I wish devils signed him and guptill looks decent too.
You deserved the win shoqed a lot of bottle to come back in the end well done.

What a fantastic third period, such intensity and shows what this team is capable when firing on all cylinders. Great speed and power but to put in that kind of performance for 60 minutes is nearly impossible.
I didn't think we played that badly in the first two periods, though. Cardiff just had that bit more class and were looking good. A couple of bounces our way though and we could have been even after two.
The new lad looked like he was more than capable of contributing to the team on the fourth line. Give him another handful of games before I pass judgement but happy to give him a go for now.
I still have Cardiff as my favourites for the league but I saw enough in that last period to suggest that we could make them work for it.

What a fantastic game and even more so as a televised one.
Thinking of travelling up to Sheffield on Saturday night, anyone want a lift?

Wow.
Hughes hit was one of the best things I’ve seen in years.
The comeback was incredible.
I need a sit down.....to watch that third period again!

Trams weren't running so I'm on a bus to Clifton Park and Ride, then a drive home to South Leicester. First thing I'm doing is warming up some dinner and sticking the 3rd period on the TV. Or perhaps just Hughes hit on a loop!

It's on Freesports again at 1300 tomorrow. Or did you mean the offer of a lift to Sheffield?

Great comeback that in the 3rd. First and second we’re pretty crap but they certainly showed what they can do in the end,Panthers were very impressive third period.
Not sure what on earth Bowns was doing for Pithers winner though.

On another note both the refs had a good night. All calls seemed spot on to me.

Looks higher than I first thought... Hedden = 5'10" and leaning well forward. Hughes = 6'2" and standing up straight. Not much you can do to reduce the height on that short of chopping Hughes' legs off at the knees!

Date in the title of the thread is wrong right? Game is the 26th. Hopefully with a few days rest we can win this one. Though Devils had an easy game on Sunday so this could go either way. Hoping for a win but thinking it'll be close. 4-3 to Panthers *fingers crossed* Congratulations........today's winner of guess the score.

Must admit, I didn't see that coming after 2 Periods.
Seemed rather similar to what happened in Cardiff.
I think that scoring after 10 seconds in the 3rd gave them belief and that Bowns can be beaten.
Glad Guptill scored, he looked frustrated in the 2nd.
What a goal from Pither to win it.
Thought that Vankleef had a rather decent game considering it was against the all conquering Devils
Regarding The Penalty Shot (Which was a great save from Garnett) there was a few people that thought it was an Offside against The Devils.
Definitely thought that The Officials called a stop in play rather quickly at the end due to a frozen puck considering how long it took them to call a stop in play when a Devil's player was lying on top of The Puck.
Stunning win considering we was 3-1 down with 10 minutes to go.
It might make The Devils a bit more nervous

Tommy Hughes take a bow. Took that game on his shoulders in the 3rd.
First period 50/50. Second period Devils. Third period Us.
Cracking game.

What a 3rd period performance from the boys, unreal stuff! The first two periods Cardiff played the perfect road game, they kept us to the the outside, blocked every single shot, they worked hard and dealt with our forecheck with ease. They also took their chances but their may have been a bit of fortune involved with one or two, but that’s what happens. Credit to Doty for taking on the fight to try and get some energy into the building to.
That 3rd period shows how this team can play, Rich did tweak the lines slightly, which helped, but the physicality we came out with was immense. The early goal did wonders for our belief and from then you could see everybody’s heads lift. Tommy’s hit was a beauty and it energised the building. Cardiff’s 3rd goal was fortunate but I think it was early enough for the players to keep the belief that we could still get something. We replied with some sublime goals, but the wonderful save from Garnett on Martin is what decided that game, if they’d scored there then it would have been curtains but he kept us in it.
This is payback for last time out in Cardiff, they get a taste of their own medicine! What a game of hockey!
Now, who’s next?
