Hi. I don’t want to divert attention from the Supporters Trust thread, nor am I attempting to stir the merde, but am I right in thinking that the Nottingham Panthers are the only Elite league club without a supporters club?
If so, why?
I know we used to have a supporters club years ago, ‘cos I was a member for some years. Then it seemed to just stop. Was it due to lack of interest, or was it lack of support from the club itself?
It does seem strange that a club as large and successful as the Panthers doesn’t have supporters who are not interested in forming a non-threatening supporters club. I can understand the clubs reaction against the Trust, although I certainly don’t condone it, and I believe that their over the top reaction seems to point to their having something to hide, but a supporters club?
I can’t reconcile GM’s boast that we have the best supporters in the league, with the fact that we don’t have a supporters club. Is that, in fact, why we’re the best supporters - we have no purpose other than to hand over our cash?

My understanding of this was that it accumulated a sizable amount of money in the bank which the management saw and in all probability thought we want that so folded the club on some pretence that they could provide a better transport service...

My understanding is that it fell apart from within due to various cliques arguing amongst themselves (including about the sizable amount of money they seemed to be stashing away for reasons unknown). I was a member of the old Supporters Club for just a single season. Never have I experienced such a cliquey, hostile to newcomers bunch of people who seemed most concerned as to what they could get from the Panthers organisation for their 'loyalty'. It's not often I praise Gary Moran but if he was instrumental in bringing about the end of the NPSC then it's perhaps one of his best bits of work.

Quite surprised the club hasn't introduced their own supporters club. Keep it all in house, another method of bringing money into the club. Discounted travel, discounted merch, badge, sticker and the rest of the usual useless items in club membership packs.
I'm glad they're running the travel side of things though, Pat, Bill and John are all lovely people and I've not experienced a bad trip with them, pretty decent prices usually too and efforts are made to include other things into some away trips.

The travel club is brilliant but it is totally independent from the organisation. They obviously keep the club informed but there is no money transferred to the club. Everything is priced and kept as low as possible to enable more fans to travel that don’t want to drive.

Any club associated to fans should be a seperate identity. So the club won't want that. They want to keep charge on all they do/have done. Thus sell for profit merchandise etc...The last Supporters club failed and I know the money in the bank they did not want GM to have. Thus wanted to give this (with members permission) to something like the junior set ups, which run themselves too.Not sure what happened in the end. All I know is that communication was poor.
The Trust, though not a supporters club, will run it's own members functions in due course.Sports etc. whatever they want to do.
