I know that lines have been discussed on various different threads but just listening to Rich's latest interview he has stated a few things that might suggest that everyone has the lines and positions of the players all wrong so thought it might deserve its own thread. He has stated that Hurtubise, Pither, Perlini and Lacho are the centres so might we look more like this
GUPTILL - HURTUBISE - RHEAULT KOVACS - PITHER - BIGGS FARMER - PERLINI - DOTY HENDERSON - LACHOWICZ - BETTERIDGE

I don’t know if I’m ready to watch settled lines and players being played to their strengths

The only stats on face offs we as fans have are the CHL ones from last year, where Perlini won 72 of the 140 face offs he took. Team leader in both stats. (41 for 70 away from home, rather interestingly; 6 for 21 at home to ZSC, 7 for 11 @zsc.)

It would be brilliant if we had last season stats available for this (another example of how the league needs to improve imo), but I just felt in the big situations when we needed to win a face-off Perlini would crumble. I always felt Brown and Pither (when he didn’t jump the gun) were more capable. His face off stats from the Zurich games are interesting, could they have been down to a reshuffle of lines on their part? In the 2nd game was Perlini up against one of their stronger centres due to the fact that he’d won the majority in the 1st game?

Settled lines would be nice
“I’m expecting our guys to bring a more consistent effort than last year with results and we can only worry about ourselves" this speaks volumes, really hope he achieves this.
I'm excited for the new season

For what it worth my guess would be Kovacs - Hurtubise - Guptil Rheault - Pither - Biggs Farmer - Perlini - Henderson Doty - Lacho - Betteridge Time will tell

Round pegs in round holes. A Power Forward on each line. Guess the odd one out would be Henderson who with almost 400 AHL games has a very good CV to be a 4th line wing in the EIHL.

I think it’s a good reflection of the strength in depth we have, as an example that 3rd line had a total of 44 goals last season. Henderson was labelled as role player and hopefully he can strike up a good partnership with Lacho and Ollie, a high energy line that is solid defensively.

I like the look of that Kovacs-pither-biggs line could be very productive

3 players arrived yesterday, 4 more arriving today.
The training schedule drawn up by the new coach is far more brutal than previous.

went through this with a mate and suggested Farmer for the 4th line along with Lacho and Ollie as i dont see any of the imports as 4th line material.
Doty was 4th line for the clan last season then got bumped up due to injuries on the team and started producing points.
Also to back up my case think of the other 4th lines they would be up against, they could log decent minutes and put up good numbers for us. Farmer is a goal threat on his day, Ollie is tenacious and very busy on the ice and lacho is defensive and seems to keep a cool head. it could work.
have the top two lines to get us the goals a third line of Doty Henderson and Kovacs/Biggs to grind teams down, throw the body and just make life miserable.

One of which is at its infancy still.

A guy who clearly has talent but for me went stale under Corey. Might be that he ends up playing higher up the lines if Rich can bring the best out of him again.

This team will be good enough for a top 4 finish but will struggle to get anywhere near Cardiff...

Looking forward to seeing what the the new coach does with special teams Some fresh ideas would be most welcome. I'm pretty sick of seeing Steelers and Devils be clinical on the PP in the NIC and Panthers be well, pants. Well, that's what it's felt like, anyway. I was going to check on the EIHL site, but I absolutely hate the new look EIHL site with a passion. No stats from prior years, far too much dead space on screen, and the header bar with links to all the teams' home pages is gone. A massive step backwards. Surprised no-one's commented on here?
