I think recipients aren’t allowed to use the term “doctor” unless he/she is in communication with whatever university awarded the degree; Like Iginla says, they aren’t considered the same as a degree earned by someone who has actually studied etc & AFAIK, they are to be acknowledged as an award & not through educational studies. I remember Pete Waterman got one from Cov university when I graduated.

Absolutely; I was however annoyed when Waterman got one, mainly because he didn’t spend hours and hours wading through history books in a Cov university library or trawling the Nuremberg trial papers at the Galleries of justice, looking for information on Waffen SS war criminals 😂😂😂

Honorary degrees tend to be given to local people who have contributed greatly to the city.

You often get members from the church receive honorary degrees, actors, artists, musicians, businessmen/women, anyone who is a huge success essentially and is seen to be deserving of high praise.

Corey has changed the face of ice hockey in Nottingham and the UK, nobody can really argue that. He’s been recognised with local media awards and things like that but this is a cut above and he deserves it.

Really keen to see where he’ll end up for the coming season.

No i haven’t renewed my season ticket actually for the first time in 18 years,despite the new coach.
Even though the new coach might actually give Panthers a good shot at the league rather than being out of contention by January virtually every year in the last ten ! 🙄

Completely agree with Pies on this one...

And as for Corey Neilson supposedly being "arrogant" - what a total load of tosh. I've only encountered him in person a few times over the years, but I'm yet to meet a more self-effacing individual in this sport. And simple observation of the man in action supports that... he hangs back a lot, avoiding the limelight... and when he is the centre of attention, his body language virtually screams out that he'd rather be at the back largely out of view.

We all have faults, and Corey Neilson is absolutely no exception to that rule... but "arrogance"? - no.

Yotes, Shaggy, Dan and myself are very liberal with what’s allowed to be said on here. Quite frankly, for the most part, we don’t have to do a lot of moderating. However, as some may or may not know, at least one of the 4 of us has to read every post that goes on here. Most of the time, it’s all 4 of us.

Now Iginla has had pretty much free reign on what he likes to say and for the most part has stayed within the rules. We have allowed every opinion he has to be aired. In fact, to some people, it has been to the detriment of their enjoyment of the Cage

But now from my point of view, he’s attacking Corey with unfounded accusations of arrogance and then when he’s called out on it, basically admits he will have nothing to do with the Panthers moving forward. So for the record, Iggy doesn’t like GM. He thinks he’s being short changed. He’s made the point numerous times and it’s winding people up.

So from my point of view, whilst he is not banned and no action has been taken, his incessant need to fill threads with gripe after gripe will now be less tolerated. He can air his views. No issue with that. But no more of the constant fill of negativity that is now coming across as trolling.
