Any of the free agents you would think could do a job for the Panthers, I quite like Guillaume Doucet returning, he had his best tally of goal/assists for a few seasons in a below average Lightning side last season

wouldnt say no to Connolly being our other top Centreman, also v good at getting under opposition skin (even if he is a diving cheating whinging piece of ****)
I would also take Goulakos if he wasnt so damn indiciplined. his points output from D speaks for itself.
May also be tempted to take a punt on Beca/Hammond as 2nd liners
besides that not a lot out there for me!

I’d take Mike Hammond for 3rd line.

As a thought exercise:
Bentivoglio - Pither - Rheault Kovacs - Sylvestre - Doucet Farmer - Hammond - Perlini Lacho - Doty - Betteridge Tetlow
Olsen - Goulakos Billingsley - Hughes Lepine - Lee Kelsall
Garnett Gospel
Finishing the squad with EIHL free agents could make a fairly competetive team. Bringing back Doucet on a line with a real setup guy like Kovacs. Getting Hammond in for the 3rd line with Farms and Perlini as practice for the big boys next april. Adding Sylvestre, he's a bit of a rat, but he gets under players skin and definatly knows where the net it. Then finally Goulakos would be the two-way D-Man we aslong as he can stay on the right of the "edge".
I'd rather we look outside the league for a first line LW, but banged Bentivoglio on for completions sake.
Players like Gabriel Lévesque (Dundee) and Peter LeBlanc (Fife) also stood out to me but it's hard to fully guage their effectiveness in the league due to the imbalance of the conference system.

As he’s not been announced by them yet (don’t know why not) but I’d take Matthew Myers back again happily. Tyson Strachan from the Devils too.
Personally I always really rated Paul Phillips on D, mainly from his time at Manchester but had another good season last year in MK. Still only 26 and the kind of offensive defenceman we’re likely to sign next. ...I can’t say I’ve watched Phillips extensively too, so MK and Storm fans may beg to differ, but I’ve often thought he was pretty classy, hard working and responsible in his own zone too.

Agree about goulakos, don't like the dirty type player. Someone who plays with an edge, yes; but a cheapshotter, no. Wouldn't have myers either, nothing wrong with him, he's a good player. But we need a team that can stick together and build on. Myers is likely to scuttle back to Cardiff after a year again.

I was always impressed by Phillips when I saw him, he has a good shot, runs the power play well and he’s a good skater. I wouldn’t be dissapointed if we signed him but I can see Cherno going for another dman who has size as well as flare.

I would quite like mike cazzola. He was on a uni deal in Edinburgh so not sure what he is doing now. He did well in an extremely poor team. I believe he was a point a game player.

In terms of individual players I agree league position isn’t an indicator but if you’re taking players in bulk is there more to it? I can understand them wanting Riley, he’s physical, scores goals and is a leader (captain last season), but are Whistle, Martinelli and Raine upgrades for there defence? That’s all I was thinking, bearing in mind Sheffield conceded a lot less goals than Belfast last season.
