I'm fine with that personally, he was very good at the start of last season. Plus I expected him to come back to complete his uni course anyway. I'm happy with Cherno's thinking on that one.

Mmmm... As long as it doesn’t take them the usual TWO MONTHS to get another import in once Garnett’s form dips when Uni kicks in again !!!

At the start of last season Garnett was immense, he had the ability to make saves that didn’t seem possible, as the season went on though he definitely tailed off and saves he should of made he didn’t. If it was due to his focus or lack of concentration then hopefully he can fix it.
One thing that I like about Garnett is that he’s a character and every team needs them to be successful. Welcome back Mike!

Welcome back Mike! He’s certainly a character yes. But considering how big his numbers were after the first few weeks, they must have been terrible later on to end up at only 89% saves. To win championships you need way better than that. Rich best get looking now i reckon !!!

Firstly I am happy enough with this. Secondly, yes his form did dip in the middle of the season but so did the entire team. Something went wrong with last years team that was bigger than individual players just not being good enough or chosing not to play. Garnett for me still has the ability to be the best goalie in the league and hopefully Rich can get a consistant performance from him throughout the season. A lot of people appear to be judging him purely based on an average middle part of the season. Some of that critisism is fair however he is far from a poor player. As with the majority(An obvious 1 or 2 exemptions) of last years team, I think he deserves another shot under a new coach. They all proved their ability last season. Those that do return I hope Rich can coach the "skill" back into them as much as the last coach coached it out of them.
Having said that, if Garnett does either start poorly or dip off again then we will need somebody in sharpish.

I'm happy. I feel once Garnett has more game time under his belt he'll settle into a good rhythm. Glad to hear Gospel may be getting more ice time over the season too.
Disappointed that it's taken an interview with the Post which happened a few days ago, to have any clarity on what's happening with Garnett. All those tweets and comments to the club asking what's happening, ignored, no news on the website, no nothing. But the local rag manages to clarify it all for us.

Can see Gary's first fallout with Cherno here. The walking ego has had the coach announce a (re)signing to the NEP before he had chance to fudge up some crap/cheesy article on the OS.
I think Garnett is worthy of another shot but as others have said, any major dips in form (less than 90% SVP is poor) would require a remedy.

I think if he have a D that suits Garnett’s game, then why not use him? We won a couple of those CHO games thanks to him and whilst our season did go down the toilet, Garnett wasn’t the sole reason for that.

It always felt to me that his form dipped once he had another number 1 to fall back on. Maybe the pressure of being number 1 keeps him going. Either way I'm more than happy to give him another chance.

Can't argue with that CV though! NHL, AHL, KHL.
Was a "wow" signing last year, I thought he was pretty good, but post CHL your defensive players (D & Forwards) didn't help him a whole lot.

What i do like is the clarity and foresight that Chernomaz seems to have. Very clear, very concise and the exact opposite of what we're used to. He wants to give Garnett his chance and put his faith in him. Fine. But at least he's made it clear that he's got to be up to scratch or he'll sign someone else. You never heard anything like this from Corey

Im willing to wait and see. Not going to sugarcoat it and say I'm thrilled he's back, however, like people have mentioned, he DID perform and so we have to find THAT Michael Garnett. If we can, we're looking strong. Also like the fact he talks about Sams development.
If we signed him this year based on his CV, we'd be rubbing our hands with glee. It's the first major gamble Rich has made, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

Well, I for one am rather surprised by this. Had him as a goner for sure.
Wonder if we're paying him the same as last season...
& that's a definite shot at CN in his tweet. So fair play for that actually.

If, as said before, his Uni work affected practice and playing times, then lets hope we have a second season from him akin to the one the Bryan Schmidt had. You cant argue with Garnett's CV, his career speaks for itself

You cant argue with Garnett's CV, his career speaks for itself I agree with you. But he didn’t have Uni to contend with during his high profile CV years. It’s not good missing your goalie in practice 2 or 3 times a week because he’s sitting in a classroom 20 miles away !

Don’t quite understand his so called dig at Corey, for a start he quite categorically said last season that he came on the assumption he would be sharing the goal tending with someone else and he didn’t expect to play every game. He was thrilled when Galbraith arrived. It’s not galbraiths fault he was the better nettie over the season. anyway he came for the education with a bit of hockey thrown in, let’s hope Rich has told him what the priority is this season.

I want every player on the roster to do well, so hopefully, Garnett has a more consistent season. Welcome back.

Garnett simply has to do better this season. No the d did not help but he was not good enough simple as that. Personally I would have preferred galbraith as he was more consistent. Happy that it sounds like gospel will be getting more chances.

He didn't really share duties with Pat though, Pat was quite obviously made number one very quickly, and Mike didn't get a sniff of a big game again.
