It's looking increasingly likely that we won't win a domestic trophy again this season, last time we did was 15/16. Alot of people say the league has improved and it got me thinking, how many of this year's team are actually better than the 15/16 team?

The trophyless season (except for the illustrious Erhardt conference trophy) was 2014/15.

The trophyless season (except for the illustrious Erhardt conference trophy) was 2014/15. 15/16 was our last team to win anything domestically, that's the point being made I think. Is this lot better than that lot? I can't really remember much about that team, other than Cam and us basically relying on Mosey, especially at the end of the season.

Kolnik moran bombach is take them over phillips derlago etc everyday. We never struggled for goals with that team, the struggle I remember was with miika being injured quite abit .
Remember a few occasions we played Edinburgh Dundee etc and scored 7 or 8

I'm a plonker and completely misread it. Doh! Well that team had a fantastic line of kolnik, Moran and Mosey which really clicked at the end of the year and was a big part of Moseys 10+game point streak. I also enjoyed the Farmer, Janssen, Lawrence line of the 2nd half of that year!

So assuming we don't win the play offs this year, that means in the last FOUR seasons Panthers have won one Challenge cup and one Play off title and been absolutely nowhere near the league title. Or put another way,in three of the last four seasons we have won precisely NOTHING.
That's really not very good is it !
And yet there are still people who want to keep Neilson....come on !! 🙄

And Andy Bombach going to Belfast on bank holiday Monday and scoring a brilliant goal , oh god I wish we had him tomorrow night.

Defensively (looked it up), I'd take this lot over that lot. Especially prior to us bringing in the ringers that year.

Kolnik was a phenomenal player, I was massively dissapointed that we didn’t resign him for last season.

That was first year Schmidt wasn't it? Not great, as I remember. And Quick and MacDonald were the ringers.

Kolnik was superb. Only Mokshantsev of this seasons forwards comes close.
Kevin Quick would be the best D for me.

Mokshantsev has good hands, the odd good pass and scores a few goals, but there’s not a lot else for long spells in a game and he drifts out of games. Kolnik had good hands too, scored a lot of goals, great passer, hit hard and often, played every game for 60 minutes and was defensively good.

And yet for all the eulogising of that teams players after 38 league games it was only a single point ahead of this years. Although they had scored 17 more and shipped 15 less goals. Cant see us bringing in a Quick & McDonald this year though to shore up the defence at the back end of the season.

They were signed at the very last minute (both deadline day as I recall), that's all I meant by ringers, last minute additions to get us the secondary prizes.
The defence we've got now has at least been here for the full season (before Brisebois did one), compared to the 15-16 defence that played most of that season I'd take this lot.

Very similar to this (The main difference being this is 2 more painful seasons later). That season was on the back of a poor one previously, the first 2/3 were aweful. Then we got the extra D in and showed up at the end to win a few. The other that turned that season around was a month of settled lines on the back of the real start of pick and mix the season before (This is why it was most baffling he went back to it last year). Funny people can identify 2 lines straight away. Kolnik Moran Mosey Lawrence Farmer Cam(MacMillan at times). Yet those lines litterally only went together as the CC final approached. That season is one of the few reasons I still believe this years team could still win the play offs.

Kolnik did have much more experience too yep. About 12 years I think based on when they’re both with the Panthers. Great player Kolnik.

Then again that's the same thing I guess. But thinking of the 'it doesn't say "beating/winning" on the ticket instead of "vesus", it doesn't say "not trying/giving up/club fails" either. We so let ourselves down all the time.
