In almost 30 years watching the Panthers, Dallman was my favourite! He smoked like a chimney but not did he know where the net was! Mark Kolesar was my 2nd favourite while we are on the subject.. then the rest Dallman & Kolesar were great for Panthers. given this was in thread about a current player thought i'd create a new one.. OK so the list:- In no particular order and for different reasons (scoring, skill, character etc) Mike Jeffries Mario Belanger Craig Melancon Tim Peacock Terry Kurtenbach Chris Kelland Selmar Jim Keyes Fred Perlini Jim Paek Rick Brebant Dan Dorian Mike Jeffries dont remember him Mario Belanger all i remember is a quote from blaser saying he wanted to punch him for not getting in there (or some such quote) Craig Melancon what a star Tim Peacock not as big a star as Melancon TK and Chris Kelland, well TK wasnt called to 50 minute man for a reason and Chris is the ONLY player i can remember that has spoken to a ref and got him to change his mind he was the epitome of a professional and i remember him and Adey not coming off gagging for breath in the first training session held by murphy who replaced Dampier. Selmar... well all i can say is i was there nuff said What a guy Jim Keyes... kinda dont remember him althoug i am old now Fred Perlini well lets hope his lad can fill his shoes Jim Paek what a pro!! shame he was on one the toughest (yeehaw ) and underachieving sides in Nottingham Rick Brebant it is no surprise success has followed this guy and it did in Nottingham until the only time he has ever been injured in this country scuppered one of the few chances we had of the few winning the league Dan Dorian such a performer and came back to haunt us in the playoff semi in Wembley but when you consider he was swapped for Selmar no contest. Loved hearing new york new york in the old place and is still a fav song of mine all because of Dan As mentioned Marty Dallman (what a quarterback that guy was for Nottingham and still a role never been as well filled )and Mark Kolesar did it all, lead from the front.. all great players in their day. Plenty more that can be named Premark had big shoes to fill when he effectively replaced Selmar, Loved Bishop as a player fitted my ideal D man perfectly, Noone tougher than Barry Nieckar and the hadden/adey/Zukewski line is one of the best to ever watch giving highest points that year 1 and 2 to adey and hadden... lots more but thats it for now

One player I got particularly excited about when he was announced was Marty Flichel
Derek Laxdel needs a mention as well as one of my favourite defenceman in Roy Mitchell 😊

Mario Belanger, I went up to Durham to see his last game before he retired..... Ok so he didn't retire but instead a couple of years later found himself playing for us. A player who on his day must have been like trying to body check mist. Not a quarterback but a goal scorer who you wanted on a one on one.... Talking of which, Beauregard who if I'm honest I wasn't expecting too much off yet so showed me how little I know. And Marty Dallman out best ever quarterback who'd stand outside the dressing room between periods having a fag.
Of power forwards for me no one comes close to Mike Blaisdal..
Offensive defensmen....Doc Durdal. Mid ice checker has to go to Lepine. Pure class and calmness Paek. Odelein for getting his point across and would have got the pure class award if it weren't for Paek.
Work ahollics Cam Janson, Bent Bobyck, Ross Lambert.
Agitators.... Keyes, Melencon and Richardson.
The only name i can't remember is our most intelligent player... It'll come.
So many players to remember.... Or forget.

I'd like to add
Calle Carlsson - Mr cool - except season he played up the road Daryll Easson - Just for scoring THAT overtime goal to lift Panthers first trophy (new era) at the NEC. I was there and the crowd just went mad.. Randall Weber - whole career with single team. And he was classed as a Brit. Jamie Crapper (changed to Craiper later) - How many goals from outside the blue line??

First high class stopper we had - Trevor "Robber" Robins It's a argument which has surfaced a few times... Who was the better.. The Robber or kwall? For me it was never in doubt..Robins faced higher quality forwards every night and was the first import nettie to get a shut out in Sheffield arena

Kolesar, what a player. A warrior on the ice in every way. Dallman was pure genius, small, not very quick, but so clever. For sheer will and commitment Ross Lambert has to get a mention. We’ve had some classy defenders and one of my favs was Daryl Olsen, shame he only stayed 1 season.
At other teams, so many crazily talented players and entertainers. Claude Dumas was lethal. Little Dale Jago, great attacking d man. Doug McEwen, unstoppable at times. And who could forget Brent Sapergia.
Nostalgia I know, but so much fun and good times watching Heineken era and ISL. It was a huge part of my life so I’ll always remember Panthers so fondly. Times change. But it was so good back then.

We were stupid to let him go when we did.

Simon was also another player who kept getting tapped up by sheffield and only ever played for one club
Forgot about Ross what a player he was, didnt he replace someone who we actually released pre season?

To be honest these memories should be captured and displayed for new players to witness what is expected of them instead of the sterile blandsville that is the NIC..

Charron was solid. One of the more underrated d men we've had in the NIC isl era. Darren Maloney, he was as steady as they came.

One who just did his job every night and never got enough credit was Jason Beckett, solid as a rock and tough. I don’t remember him, but I’m surprised nobody’s mentioned Jamie Leach ?

Loved Jamie Leach, was great to sign him from Sheffield. Totally forgot about Drouin too, his breakaways were insane, made so many goalies look silly. Him, Wallenberg and Jinman were amazing at times.

Romance of the old barn. Kwall and Ling for me were winners and did something monumental and were top drawer and big game players.

I could name a few better goalies than him who we've had I said on numbers....look at his stats,he's better than Robins and Kowalski on GA and Saves %. Unfortunately,we never saw the big games, because one year he had a crap team around him and the other year he got injured in Coventry in the play off quarter final and we brought Kudrna in for play off weekend.

Some average players mentioned to be honest. It's all about opinions. My favourite players are those that won us stuff. Jamie Leach was lazy for us. The Hadden and Adey line did the business in that team.
