There will apparently be an official PR from the Manchester Phoenix later today, but I've just had a call from one of the bods who works for them to let Panthers fans know that there will be more seats available on Sunday than originally thought.
They are opening up a second part of the rink faster than expected, and total capacity should be 1500 seats for the weekend's games... so any Panthers fans who were wanting to go up to Alty on Sunday will have more of a chance now.
Apparently the best way to ensure a ticket is to go to the Phoenix website, click on the tickets link on the left side and pay online via Paypal - if you print off the official Paypal receipt and show that at the door, that will count as having a ticket.
Face-off is 6:30pm (had been 5:30pm, but was put back to make more room for an U19s game beforehand).

I was there for their game on Tuesday against Vipers & I'll be there again tonight against Giants. Only half of the rink seating was installed on Tuesday, but I spoke to Vernon Neil (Rink manager) & he said that most of the seats on the opposite side of the rink would be ready for Sunday. Be aware that there is limited food & drinks available, so a quick stop-off at Tesco (next door) is advised.

I was also told that there's a hot-dog stand turned up now as well. No reports as to quality, but it can't be any worse than some I can think of (Coventry's hot dogs... <shudders>)

If the quality is the same as Cov, then it's a damn site better than NIC.

I eat loads of NIC hotdogs, dont like them, just usually too hungry to wait and eat later.
I prefer Coventry fan's hotdogs though, rollover are better than ours.

None of them beat the hotdogs sold at the Queens Drive retail park though, the stall outside B&Q serves the nicest hot dogs ever....slightly OT i know

Directions to the rink...if approaching from the south on the A56. 1. Come into Altrincham on A56. Look out for speed camera just as speed limit drops to 30mph. 2. Follow signs for town centre & Leisure centre. 3. Go past big church on left & under pedestrian bridge & through 1st set of lights. 4. At 2nd set of lights, turn right onto A556. These lights have a large hotel (Cresta Hotel) on the opposite right hand corner. 5. After turning right, you are on a dual carriageway. Go through the 1st set of lights. 6. Get in the right hand lane & turn right at the 2nd set of lights. It is sign posted 'Leisure Centre'. 7. Follow the road past Honda dealer, & various tyre dealers. The rink is about a quarter of a mile after the Honda dealers, on the right. It's after the Leisure Centre, but before Tesco's. The car park isn't very well sign posted, but it's the same car park used for the train station/Metro link. Note - Lights don't include pedestrian crossing lights. Hope this helps.

to add the turning for the car park is called thomas street and there is a garage/tyre place (think it's nationwide autocentre although i tend not to pay attention as i know where i'm going). please be aware tesco may clamp you if you park in their car park.
as for waiting for a more permanent rink in manchester - we'll see you in about 5 years then!
