Trips to Metro Land are never easy - no reason to suspect this one will be any different.

You will all be ecstatic to know that the referee for Sunday is none other than ............. Moray Hanson!!!
[glow=red,2,300](applause applause)[/glow]
And don't forget to leave your super sensitive sides at home - when the announcer calls the Panthers 'Pussycats' or meows over the PA, don't get all angry and come on here on Monday bleating about it. He does it to all opposing teams. He's funny, laugh.

Panthers to win 3-2. Probably in the last 5 or so minutes... Hopefully Mark(lee) will be full of confidence after the hull game the night before(against whom he got his 1st shut out.) Be interesting to see what the Payette/Cornish ryan situation is. I would hope(for Vipers sakes) Payette keeps his cool, and ignores the yapping that ryan will no doubt indulge in(he seems more obsessed with Andre than anyone else in the league). We cannot afford to lose Payette, as otherwise Cornish moves up a line, and that is a disaster. Cornish, however, is a dead weight, and while he would lose the fight, would be no great loss.

Shmyr will be after Payette, it was obvious in the last game he doesnt consider Cornish a threat whilst he seems to genuinely dislike Payette, good to see a rivalry start up between players, brings the crowd and increases the atmosphere at games

He certainly knows how to annoy Andre - and that Andre is a more important player for us than ryan is for you. I would be much happier without the rivalry, thankyou very much. If Ferone went after him, however, thats different. A shmyrr still owes him a fight-hopefully when the game is 59 minutes old, and done and dusted!

See have I missed ryans supposed obsession with Payette?
I think the thing is Payette is so easily wound up by him because payette just isnt tough enough to face him week in week out. He might get the odd victory but overall id say Shmyr is tougher.
All Ryan has to do is remind Payette of this and it gets him all wound up.
The game itself, I can see it being similar to the last few times. Won in the dying minutes really. Heres hoping a for a brawl. Heres also hoping Reesy finally loses his rag and has a proper fight

I agree Yorkshire but i remember an incident in our rink of Ken our announcer teasing the Geordie's but i remember them doing anything but laugh i think about 30 of them complained and that in turn made the panthers force him to publicly apologize! I agree it is funny and i have no problems i just wish the wouldn't whinge when they get the same treatment!

A slight jibe about the team name is slightly different to generalising the whole fan base as dole dossers though

Don't think any major brawl will start-too important stage of the season, and Vipers still short-benched by 2 imports this weekend. I hope Andre rises above ryan-I still believe Andre was right to attack McAslan after what he did, and I'm sure Wilson does too-especially considoring what happened to Aubry the week after. It's worth pointing out how well you guys played in the 3 games without ryan-would the Vipers be as effective without Payette-I doubt it. Payette has more important jobs on Sunday than personal vendettas. ryan, on the other hand...

yea firing the puck after the offside whistle? hardly a cause for the OTT reaction. maybe a quick push a few words but to sucker punch with the glove on and to carry on after he was on the ice?
FWIW, I dont think Payettes ego will allow himself to rise above the Ryan stuff. He might not fight but I know he will want to.

Some rather stupid comments in the above statement.and Payette more important to Vipers than Shmyr is to Panthers? I think you're giving Payette way too much credit. He's not the worst player in the league but unfortunately his dumb mentality will never allow him to rise above goon status. Ryan Shmyr, bar the odd exception has enforced intelligently all season, you allude to it yourself in his ability to get under Payette's skin. I'd take Shmyr over Payette every time.
