I think we were very comfortable in the first and second,..but i was suprised at how poor Belfast actually were .
They are one of the teams I really like to watch in the elite, but were way off last night,...still there were flashes that showed what an excellent team they can be,.. the first goal was very well taken.
Thought we played a dangerous game in the third,.. at times we took our foot off the pedal way too much,.. almost to the point of not playing,..
However , regarding the playing staff at the moment,... The thing that I cant really see anybody else saying is regarding Mike Ellis's contribution..
I thought he was fantastic last night,.he was all over the ice,.involved in everything,..I think he deserves a bit of a shout ,.. well played coach,..
Thought that Minard was poor last night,.. couple of decent stops,..but has to be disappointed,..was very suprised Ed didnt pull him ,..again.

Wasn't the most entertaining game I've ever seen-manly due to the fact it was dead as a contest very early on. My first view of the Giants and was very disapointed. Their D could not cope with any pace. Minard is a shadow of his last seasons self. And the forwards ran out of ideas. Boniface was excellent-but I normally think he does a good job, TBH. The fight was a non-event. But the game was over, so maybe the passion wasn't there - but then never seen Skiehar go, so I don't know if that was his usual style.

I thought the game was OK.
The first period got off the a great start. Couldn't complain.
Second we took the foot off the gas, but to be honest, we were on the PK alot which doesn't help.
Third was just going through the motions. The fight was alwasy going to be anon-event. Ry spanked him last time leaving the only option to avoid another pasting to get in close. Credit where it's due - Skiehar got in close and did OK. It seems that's the only way to beat Ry.
Good to put up 5+ goals again. Not so good to allow another SH goal...

Although Belfast are going to finish in the top eight, you wouldn't put money on them getting to the finals weekend on that form.

i agreed with you about ellis! - he would of been my MOM last night.
but i am suprised the giants didnt try the rough stuff earlier - i was under the impression that when things were not going right for a team(e.g 2 or 3 goals down) a player try to start a fight or at least some rough stuff to gain a bit of emotion back for their team....but not last night, by the time it happened the game was well and truelly lost?
is ryan that much of a lengend in fighting terms - that no one wants to drop them and dance??

the fight wasnt staged, Skiehar got in close to try and stop Shmyr throwing big punches unfortunately it stopped hardly any punches, would imagine Shmyr got fed up of being tied down and went for the takedown.
there is a big difference between players deciding to fight and a fight being staged, Shmyr v Clouthier, two big rival teams so the enforcers have a dance to decide the pecking order, Shmyr v Ndur, they go to try and get some momentum back in the game, Shmyr v Skiehar the last night, both teams were getting really niggly so maybe they went to try and defuse a situation which could lead to skilled players fighting possible injuries, hockey players dont tend to stage fights, there is a massive respect between most fighters.

hes not a legend but is certainly a good fighter, was regarded as the champ in his last league (chl) and is certainly doing well over here, unbeaten in nine bouts, touch wood.

Panthers did what they had to to win, great first period, a more even second and a lousy third.
Minard has major problems at the moment but his defence didn't help him. They obviously don't have any faith him and it showed. On more than one occasion they also hung him out to dry.
Forward wise Belfast have some great individual talent but no depth, and a distinct lack of effort on occasion.
Panthers shouldn't have conceded three goals last night and should have scored a few more, this isn't a complaint, just an observation. Work on cutting out the sloppiness and things can only get better.

Apparently he is suffering quite badly with arthritis and Ed Courtney was aware of this late last season and took a chance signing him again this season. Obviously it has bitten them on the bum now.

First period we were on fire, came out the blocks at 100mph and didnt let up, Shymr scored after a minute, they equalised then we just on a rampant scoring run, Giants didnt know what to do with our pace in attack and Minard was all at sea.
2nd period started where it left off with another goal then we seemed to be on a never ended PK, which we killed brilliantly, the third started with a shocking bit of defending by the Giants when they gave the puck away to...i cant remember but anyway it ended with a soft shot by clarke that just went through Minard like he wasnt there.
The 'fight' was over in about 20 seconds and was just wrestling really but Ryan took him down easy enough, we took our foot of the pedal in the third and got sloppy and let in 2 goals but then we seemed to wake up a bit and Belfast never looked like scoring again

I didn't think that was a very good game at all. We were very average and struggled to pass the puck a lot of the time. Thankfully the Giants were woeful. They looked as if they'd given up before a puck was even dropped, completley demoralised and lacking in ideas. We were comfortable throughout I thought and won without ever needing to get out of first gear. Disappointing really as I was expecting a little more. I'm not complaining though - a win is a win and I think that now leaves us only a couple of points behind them (though they'll still have some games in hand). If that was average, Id like to see us on a good day. In sport you can only beat whats in front of you and yesterday that was a very lapse Giants d and lousy netminder (very over rated Mini) . My observations think we set out in the first to get the game won early on and Belfast couldn t cope with our intensity. The second was just an attempt to build from the first, was happpy with that too. The final period we took out foot well off the gas trying to conserve something in the tank for sundays game hense the slack passing etc gifting them 2 goals. I thought we played another near perfect game against opposition who have big problems alot worse than what we have after France. Great team celebration againt, this shows a great team spirit, long may it continue. ;D

In sport you can only beat whats in front of you You're quite right! I just didn't find it a particularly exciting game. I like a match where the opposition give us a game, last night that didn't happen. You're right to say you can only beat what's in front of you and we did, credit to the teams for doing that. But I never thought they needed to get out of first gear to do it.

We have recently heard how bad the referees are in the league, tonight you could not fault Mr Boniface. He had an excellent game, hardly missed a thing. I know - shocking isn't it! ;D I'm not a fan of Nigel but thought he called the game spot on - a really good effort. A curiously unconvincing performance considering the scoreline. The Giants were poor and the win was a deal more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. Too comfortable to keep the intensity going after the first period, especially with a game on Sunday as well. Thought our passing was poor and we gave up far too many turnovers in all three zones - fortunately the Giants couldn't make much of them. On the plus side, the goals are flowing freely and coming from all round the team. Shymr, Ellis, Meyers and Myers impressed. So did Rasti - he has his faults and sooner or later he'll probably cost us big time with a mistake, but it's great to have a character like him in the game. As well as his goal tending he's brought the team and fans together and enjoyment back into games.
