Taken from the Giants home page: Courtenay back in the line-up, changes being made… Friday, February 23rd, 2007 – The Coors Belfast Giants Head Coach Ed Courtenay announced today that he will be registering himself to play for the weekend’s two away matches against the Nottingham Panthers and Edinburgh Capitals. Courtenay is still deciding which player to deregister as there are a couple of players that are awaiting x-rays and medical clearance to play. A player, once de-registered, has to sit out 6 games which would give an injured player 3 weeks to rest and would have them back in the line-up for the home match on March 9th against the Newcastle Vipers. At that point whether Courtenay takes himself out of the line-up or decides to sit out a player remains to be seen. The recent dip in form for the Coors Giants had Courtenay threatening changes in the roster and with a couple of players nursing injuries he has taken this opportunity to possibly add an offensive spark that has been lacking as of late. “Offensively we have been struggling as of late but besides the Coventry and Hull games, our form defensively has been fine,” said Courtenay, “I still have confidence in this team.” “It will take me a couple of games to feel fit on the ice again but I have been training with the team most of the season in case something like this came up.”Looking forward to seeing Courtnay back on the ice. Hope he starts throwing sticks and helmets, showing Ryan how it should be done, cos this will mean they are losing ;D

If we can keep up this 4 goals a period for the rest of the night then we'll be in for a massive win! Here's to hoping. Looks like Shmyr was quick to make his mark after his suspension. Good work from him so far.

shmyr was awesome tonight
showed us all how to get a gordie howe hatrick (goal, assist and a fight)
rees imo was good again
well the whole team was good except for about 10mins
minard is the giants biggest problem IMO then comes defence, then comes the fact that they have too many players who think they are the ones

Great all round performance by the whole team and if we play like that Friday it will be payback time for the Steelers.
Fight was pretty even although Ryan was on top of Sheikar when they both went to ground and it was stopped.

i really enjoyed that game, some great goals, a fight and a good crowd.
what a game Shmyr had, a goal an assist and a fight, as far as that goes id say even, Skiehar went for a different tactic this time so Shmyr couldnt use his reach advantage again id imagine, got very close in which ment Shmyr couldnt get free to throw much, both got a couple of weak shots but nothing much, Shmyr seemed to get bored and went for the take down, shame as it could have been another cracking fight but fair play to Skiehar for trying something different though. also thought his disallowed goal was harsh, the whistle shouldnt have been blown that quickly.
il be genuinely upset if he doest re-sign next season.

I'll admit i was wrong about Shmyr, he's been a revelation, especially in the second half of the season. One of the first names i'd have back.

I might be on my own here, but I thought we were pretty average a lot of the time with lots of missed passes and struggling to control the puck. But,Giants were really awfull and we capitalised on that ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) .Trouble is if we were playing Shuff with a performance like that I really think they would have won ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) The goals were all good and all from different players again(I think) which is always a good sign. Shmyrs scrap was nothing more than wrestling and a couple of soft shots. Not sure why they fought halfway through the 3rd though Nice big crowd of 4700 aswell which was good to see.
