14 shots so far, that’s not good enough, a very flat performance, our fans are abysmal. It’s going to take something special in this 3rd... Well it was loud over in block 4. That's despite the appalling on-ice performance. Picked up in the third but it was too little too late. Our PP was just dreadful as is to now be expected. We had 4 minutes of powerplay (in the second period I think) and I counted just 3 shots on goal. Unbelievable. I was pretty impressed with our PK tonight but it just was not enough. The officiating was just woeful also tonight. it’s always loud in block 4, I sit in block 13, join in with the chants you start and nobody joins in, silence, I don’t get it. The biggest fanbase and probably the worst at times. The power play is still poor, penalty kill is immense, Galbraith kept us in the game, we take this loss on the chin and move on.

Symbiotic relationship. The players haven’t exactly done anything for the fans to offer anything vocal. I agree we were poor BUT why isn’t that fans can’t get behind the team and spur them on? The block four lads start chants and nobody joins in, maybe if everyone had got behind them at 2-0 when they were flat it could have motivated them and potentially have changed the score line? Because our fans in general are crap, always have been. Tonight was exactly the game the crowd needed to get behind the team first when they needed them. And as always....they didn’t !

Similar in Block 15 (at least in the corner I sit in). Normally the only person who joins in is my wife, although today we had Neil Black sitting behind us and he was joining in with them all.

I bet you didn't start any chants. I think it's easy to say everyone join in, but you have to have people all around the arena who'll be the ones to trigger that. People will join in if voices around them are piping up. Either that or we could do with some safe standing for the louder fans (a la Hamburg), but that won't happen. Plus Gary would up the prices

Plus Gary would up the prices The standing section is the best idea Yotes, but as you say the moron will put the prices up and most likely put it in Block 18 out of the way. Imo the best place to have it would be block 12 or 8, then you are closer to the bulk of fans and people who don’t chant would be more likely to join in. Apart from Block 4 the majority of fans who want to chant are spread around the arena and it just doesn’t work.

In an ideal world I'd take 9, 10 & 11 (or even 8 to 12) and change the seats to rail seating and make it a standing zone for Panthers, I think the atmosphere would improve overnight. Obviously some people would have to relocate, but, you know, greater good and all that.
Pipe dream though.

Can’t play for ten minutes against a team like Cardiff and expect anything from the game. Total lack of intensity for fifty minutes and some very dumb penalties. Don’t know what Neilson said to them during the breaks but it ilicited absolutely no response from the players. They finally turned up because they thought Darnell was treating them unfairly. Despite our lofty position and games in hand we lack a genuine sniper. It showed tonight. We also struggled to break down a Cardiff team who constantly stacked the blue line. Bowns had an easy match, we didn’t have the craft or guile to break into their zone with room to manoeuvre, again, a worrying lack of a plan B. It is however only one game. Hopefully they can get back to winning ways tomorrow. We don’t just lack a sniper. We lack a sniper,a passer,a powerplay and a spare import skater ! We have an excellent passer in Phillips, but I’ll give you the other three... it’s one game but lose tomorrow and that’ll shake us a bit.

All this Panthers didn't do this and that business .. simply fact was the devils didn't allow it and played the perfect road game. Neilson was out coached..and not for the first time either

A bad day at the office.
The only thing I didn’t agree with was the lack of established lines and just trying to get all the guys playing. I’d have had 3 lines and then rotated players in to Ollie and Lacho (who again were excellent last night)
But that problem goes away tonight - no need to get all worked up over perceived lack of this or that. Still got our date in our own hands

How did you guys see the game last night, as I didn't watch it. Were we good, were you guys poor, was it a just a boring game with both teams playing poor, hear Galbraith had a great game. It sure was a big game, with probably the two best teams battling it out.

Both teams had good players missing though but that’s not an excuse. Stripeys were awful all night. Icing calls are a joke this season. Darnell was Darnell. Having said all that, Cardiff full value for their win. Hit the pipes twice and Galbraith (as usual) made some very good saves. Looked well organised and hard working. Much more to come from both teams I’m sure. Should be the top 2 this season.

Neilson was out coached..and not for the first time either Panthers were second best & that’s being generous. However, we had two PP early doors & didn’t do anything with them. A goal or two early doors against a very good Cardiff team would have been immense. Like Mark has mentioned, it’s not good enough to turn up for ten minutes and expect to win. No urgency last night at all. There wasn’t an Oasis concert last night was there? 🤣😂🤣

I don’t think the game was great from either teams perspective but Cardiff were well organised & Panthers... didn’t turn up until the last ten minutes. If there had been another ten minutes, Panthers would have no doubt got a second goal.

Panthers looked second best all night except for 10 minutes in the 3rd. Galbraith kept us in it. I think 2-1 probably flattered us to be honest. Awful officiating too.

We were so poor in the first two periods. I really dislike our entries on the power play. Drop pass - drop pass - smash it in the corner.....

I don't think the Devils get the credit they deserve from most fan bases. THF is has many posts saying the Devils didn't impress me, but they are by and large winning most games. I think after last night we are 5 wins one loss against Panthers this season. And to me Panthers are a very good team.Unless you watch the Devils on a regular basis I doubt you would realise that Haddad really is the heartbeat of this Devils team and we have been without him for a long time. Now he's back I think we are going to kick on. For me it's a three horse race Panthers Devils and Giants this year and I wouldn't like to have to pick a winner from them three.

In the NHL it is my understanding that icings are called if the defending player is closest to the puck and the goal line when he passes the hash marks, irrespective of whether he is about to be overtaken by the attacking player. I assume the logic behind this is to minimise the risk of injury by not having foot races right up to the goal line. If this is the rule being used over here then it explains the icing calls made last night and also explains why the players seemed to accept these calls whilst there were cries of derision in the crowd.

Cardiff didn't have any imports missing last night Ted,the only player of note missing was Batch plus the young Brit lad Moore. It was 14 skating imports against 11. The Devils do have 17 imports you know,so Faryna,Louis and Rutkis were sitting on the sidelines !

Playing short and losing around Christmas. Ground hog year again. Just got to battle through and get as many points as possible. Stay in the mix in the new year and we have a chance at full strength.

Yes, same rule. I'm sure they weren't all 100% but from where I was sat some of the complaints from the crowd were on perfectly good calls. You'll always get that though.

Cheers, confirms what I thought. I won’t ask for an explanation on the 2 minute bench minor for unsportsmanlike conduct after the ref had clearly given Briesbois the hands on hips gesture. Surely should have been 2 + 10.

I think the biggest contributing for our performance was the constant swapping of lines. You could lust see there was no cohesion and no chemistry. We should have just had lines of Mok/Phillips/Derlago Farmer/Perlini/Shalla and Lindhagen/Brown/Lachowicz and used Clarke and Betteridge just to fill in and odd shift and for special teams. I think this set up would have seen a much better performance

Very slow first 2 periods from us, shame it took 2 massive penalty kills to get us going , Gagnon tried to get us sparked but had nobody willing to drop gloves with him. I left the arena feeling really hacked off with our performance but in the grand scheme of things, it really wasn't the end of the world, we still have games in hand. We were terrible but still kept them close and is say along with us they'll be close to the title this year. That's a positive. Galbraith was class once again, as was our penalty kill. Ollie betteridge has come on leaps and bounds and shone last night, laying the body and killing penalties , he's become a very useful brit.
Overall a disappointing result and largely disappointing performance but we won't be brilliant every night. We've come a long way from the hammerings we took against the Steelers etc last season. We're going in the right direction for the first time in a long time.

Because you know how long mosey will be out for hey.. just like you knew Mokshansev, spang and Brisbois would be out too! No Pidge I don’t know how long Mosey will be out for, but experience tells us that.... If Panthers are saying he will be out for “a while” then he ain’t coming back any time soon. We’ve seen it before on more than a few occasions, even when they say a couple of weeks,it usually means....errr about six ! You were saying Pidge ! 😂🙄
