Innocent until proven guilty This. But if he is proven guilty, I don't want him here. Sheffield may be happy to have match fixers playing for them, I'm not and I'd like to think the club are above that. Real pity, he could've been a star for us!

Panthers org aren't even above taking their own fans to court. In a long line of shiesters, liars and crooks running UK hockey teams most would hire Philip Green or Robert Maxwell to run thier pension schemes or Tonia Harding as a skating coach.

If he had held his hands up, said he's made a mistake and takes his punishment, I would still have him here. He will want to rebuild his career and maybe being out of that environment will help. There's no big money for hockey results in this country so it has such a low risk. Also, maybe spending time with a coach like corey, who has his faults but a genuine reputation for being a fantastic mentor to young players, will help him put the incident behind him! No no no. Can't get away with match fixing that easy. It's sad because he is young and was most likely coerced into it. But I would draw a parallel with the Cricket scandal and Mohammad Amir (Pakistan) - he was young and naive but still got a 4 year ban. Punishment has to be real to properly dis-incentivise it. Would also disagree with you on it being low risk - if anything a league like our is more susceptible as there is not major resource at the top of the league which properly monitors this stuff.

I agree with the Innocent Until Proven Guilty but, I believe he confessed and/or, there is paper evidence of both Zakharchenko, another player and a former coach being part of the fix.
I feel Zakharchenko has gone AWOL the way he has due to the fear of imprisonment should he be found guilty. 22 Year old kid, facing up to 5 years in prison, in Ukraine. I'd run too.
The only thing that could possibly save him is if they find that the old coach pressured him into taking part in the bet and he was an unwilling participant, which I hope is the case but I doubt.
There's a couple investigations underway anyway. The Ministry of Sport for Ukraine have opened an investigation, with the head of that department wanting to 'make an example' of those involved and have them 'severely punished'. The IIHF are apparently looking into it all too.

I wonder if Corey will use these games against Bern and Mountfield to see if he can pick up a young N/M on loan from one of those teams

Harsh on Zakharchenko, but realistically how soon are we likely to see him over here now......you wouldn't think any time soon !

Zakharchenko has been deleted from the Roster Page. Assume Panthers have terminated the contract

Zakharchenko has been deleted from the Roster Page. Assume Panthers have terminated the contract Its a shame really, however I believe that chances are we will require a 3rd Goalie, therefore as I mentioned on a previous post, hopefully Corey can pick up a really good young Swiss or Czech Goalie on his travels this week. I believe that on our last CHL participation, we established some contacts and that was how we got Modig

Do we really need a third goalie though the way Gospel has started ? If we're going to spend a few hundred £s on another player I'd much rather have a spare skater.

Unfortunately injuries happen, therefore instead of scrambling for cover, if there is a Goalie available now and we can get him, I'd rather have him on the roster ASAP.

You would need Garnett and Gospel to get injured though for it to be a big problem......Gospel is no Dan Green. I don't think I can ever remember both Panthers goalies being injured at the same time before. And being honest, nice kid,but Pacl didn't exactly make much difference to our fortunes last season.

Yes because we play Sheffield at least 12 times this season... True Jono. But with Gagnon around I think Sheffield will think twice about doing it this season. He isn't going to pussyfoot around and do nothing like Mcgrattan did. Plus Gospel is far superior to Dan Green.

Pretty sure Dan Green will become the third keeper.

Pretty sure Dan Green will become the third keeper. Greener is a good bloke and gave great service, but Corey cannot tread this path again.......

Pretty sure Dan Green will become the third keeper. Any evidence Well he was in the team photo, which would seem a little strange for the guy who looks after the housing.

Whilst Id rather we went and got a younger British 3rd goalie(If this is the way we go) in this situation Green isn't as bad as with 2 imports and him. Short term at least. With Garnett and Gospel, Green would only ever dress through an injury. In the past he was always back up as it was often a waste to have 2 import goalies in the line up.
I do hope we go and find another quality NM though. Our goalie set up was far superior to anybody else. Now it's perhaps similar to our nearest rivals(I think we maybe still have the best pairing). The reality is if a medium/long term injury occurs and we are left with Green as no2 then we will be significantly weakened.

Green doesn't need to be anywhere near a set of pads even as a 17th backup in the event that the whole of Nottingham is struck down with a mystery illness. Nice bloke and always has a smile (must be as thick skinned as a rhino) but dressing Green just because of who he is married to is just match fixing of the wrong kind.

Zakharchenko has been suspended indefinitely. IIHF are to decide how long upon the close of their investigation, expected to be 5 years.

Endless opportunities.
