just looking into going to belfast for the weekend for the double header and need abit of advice. how far is the airport away from the city centre, would a flight arriving in belfast at 3.30pm on the Friday be pushing it to get to the hotel and then the arena for 7pm ish? there is a morning flight available but obviously if be hanging around before I can check into the hotel. also, can anyone recommend a hotel not too far from the rink (walking distance if possible) at a fair price?

Belfast City Airport or Belfast International?
City Airport is essentially in the City so tons of links into the actual centre International is about 30-40 minutes outside of the city but there's a bus. Think it's about £10 for a return ticket, £7 one way. There's nowhere else people want to go besides Belfast so it's easy enough.

My first trip to Belfast this one too. An idea for Hotels. 2 Premier Inns at least close by. One is 0.7miles from Arena(10-15mins walk) - £128 for 2 nights Other is 1.1miles (around 20mins walk) - £113. Loads more choice but those 2 are an example. Good location for city centre too.

I'd rather pay a bit more and save on travel to and from airport, both cost and time. I did take a small risk and book before the fixtures were officially released. Just over £100 return.

I've booked flights from Birmingham to Belfast Int. as we got them for £60. Only takes about 30 mins from airport to hotel and there's a £3 bus you can jump on or share a taxi if there's a few of you.
Hotels we've gone for the Etap, it's next door to Filthy McNasty about 10 min cab from the arena and only takes about 15 minutes to walk into the centre, 30 minutes if you have a stop off for a few on the way.
There's always a big following so keep an eye on tickets because they sell very fast in the away block!

We've booked from Birmingham as Ema was too expensive, we got return flights on easy jet for £44 return. Friday 2pm flight . I did think this time that the price of the hotels have gone up considerably compared to two seasons ago when we last went. We're back at the Premier inn on Alfred street as it had the best rate £106.00 for a double room for two nights. You will love it there is so much yo see and do around the city. Take the open top bus tour it's well worth it
Premier Inn currently £113 for a double room for 2 nights But you have to pay now.

We're doing Belfast for the first time this year and are really looking forward to it. Our problem lies in that I've got no flex at work and can't leave much before 4pm on the Fri.
We've not been able to get the cheapest flights because of that, but did get booked onto one just after 5pm from Leeds Bradford to Belfast City. With staying at the Premier Inn close to the arena, we have everything crossed for a fast turnaround and making it to the match on time.

Your flight will land about 5.45 and once through baggage (which won't take long) it's a short taxi to the hotels and arena complex. You should make it no problem.

If not, we'll be the ones dashing through the doors being very stylishly late! Thanks for the reassurances. Hand luggage and a taxi is definitely the way forward!

£40 return from Stansted, in laws live a few miles away from the airport so free shuttle and hotel on the night before we fly out. Booked an apartment for cheaper than a hotel room. First time out there, should be fun though despite the hockey!

Only downside is the 3000 kids on free tickets screaming throughout the game for a pizza.

should be a top weekend, hoping to get a result both nights but I’m not holding my breath. Still there’s a good following going, plenty of laughs and beers to be had I’m sure!

First time on here in quite a while... looking forward to the double header this weekend, been on previous years staying at the Premier Inns at Cathedral Qtr and next to the arena, hopefully a change of scenery to the Alfred St one will bring us more points, as both weekends I've been on before we've not taken a single point!! Also looking forward to funny looks we'll get walking round Manchester Airport in a Panthers jersey haha!! Should be a good un all round!

Just as a heads up for people heading over this weekend, current weather conditions are meaning the majority of flights going into Belfast today, both City and International (mainly the city through) are being diverted to Dublin. Hopefully the weather conditions get better for those flying out tomorrow and for me and our lot going on Friday, but just something to be aware of!
