Looks a good signing. From the highlight reel he looks like a great passer so get a high quality sniper on that 1st line with him and he could rack up some good numbers. If he can pick a good pass thats a massive boost to our team. I felt that was where we really struggled last year. We didnt have enough forwards that could create something. When Schultz was injured we looked lost trying to set up in the zone because he was the only guy that you could rely on to do it.

I can understand why people would be intrigued as to why he's come to the EIHL at this point but in reality it could be for a hundred reasons. Perhaps he wants to be in Europe but in an English speaking country. Perhaps he wants to reenergise his offensive production by playing in a league where he'll get top line minutes. Perhaps he's seen other players use the league as a springboard. Either way it doesn't necessarily mean he lacks ambition or won't give his all in a Panthers jersey. I feel it's the latter two reasons, more ice time and an attempt to springboard back up to the big leagues. Could in affect do a Mosey, have a year or two here to unleash his potential, get the confidence flowing and try his luck in America again.

As others have said I think this is a very good signing. You don't play that number of AHL games by 23 years old if you haven't got something about you.

Going to stick my head on the line here and say he will do great for us. Experience at a very high level and still very young. Sick of seeing so-called ex NHL'rs coming over here and wheezing around the ice between their retirement holiday in Nottingham in recent years and I'm liking the look of the team so far I have to say.

If we can get him on a line with a sniper and a benny type then we've recreated (almost) the first line we had grand slam year. Ling Graham Benny.

I like this guy, looks to have quality, if the attitude is right he will put up the numbers in this league. Twin him with a top sniper

Anyone else think he looks a little like Chris Lawrence in the photo they used on the OS?

Anyone watched Phillips being drafted on YouTube? TSN guys were very high on him at the time. Don't know how to link sorry.

It's a team game, induviduals win nothing. As with every signing, wait and see. Most of us have been watching long enough to know great resumes can be a bust and mediocre ones can turn into gems.

Hindsight in the NHL is such an amazing thing... Phillips was picked 15 places higher than $6m Brandon Saad and 76 places higher than $6.75m Johnny Gaudreau.
All things like positive for Phillips to make a big impact on the EIHL though.
