Having read a bit more about him, I do like the sound of this more.
First professional season in the AHL aged 19.. More AHL experience than a lot of the better players Panthers have signed over the years, yet he's only 24.

Fingers crossed on this one. Looking at Stats he's done better than Mathieu Roy at Junior Level and better than Blair Riley at AHL level so his stats put him inline with a couple of top end players in our league last season. Also has age on his side compared to certainly Riley and slightly on Roy.

With the right line mate could do alot damage in this league. But not the 'holt hell what a signing!' Announcment i think we're hoping for. I really hope we have a proper stud to go next to him.

The more I look at our team, the more confident I get about it. Phillips played with Brussieres in the AHL at Iowa I believe. A lot of these players have been playing in high standard North American leagues and not met their potential. If they had, they wouldn't be here but that doesn't mean they're going to be bad. Don't forget, experience is something they will have gained playing AHL and when they player junior hockey, they'll have been go to guys so it won't be anything new

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think he will tear it up in the EIHL(If we manage to keep hold him all the way through). I go with you on this. Looks a quality signing to me. Still young and played in far superior league's than ours. Decent signing. Look forward to seeing him play.

Over the years, we,as a fanbase, very rarely seem to like our own signings. Look at it another way, what would you think if he'd signed in Cardiff? And, what are the other fan forums saying about him?

Potential a lot of potential. Numbers aren't outstanding but he has played at far greater levels and has bagged a few. If he is indeed on the first line I'm not sure how I feel.

Will he do a job in the CHL looking for a European deal and by October we will be hearing the old "offer he couldn't refuse line" trotted out again ! Strange signing a 1st rounder in the EIHL at only 24. 😐

Think the thing that's worrying me a little is there is an awful lot of wait and see guys. Hope our next signing is more..... Wow. Don't get me wrong we have a lot of potential in our ranks.

The more I look into Phillips it will be a achievement if he's still a Panthers player by March ! Guys who are nearing 30 don't rack up that many ahl games . He either doesn't have much ambition or Panthers are matching his wages what the Swedish league were paying him

This guy definitely needs 2 experienced wingers on his line I think, Phillips is certainly more of a playmaker

And i'm not one of those who was a fan in his first season never mind last.

Panthers seemingly don't spend much money on a player - those cheap so-and-sos taking us for a ride.
Panthers seemingly spend a lot of money on a player - why bother that guy won't see out the season.
This is real life.

I'm sure he'll do fine, obviously has something about him even if it didn't happen for him in the big league.
Agree that worrying that he'll leave before the end of the season is a new level of ridiculous.

I can't get my head round the fact he's left the Swedish 2nd tier (which is a good standard) at a young age So we get a young guy from a good league and you still complain! Seriously, what do you want??? I'm guessing Crosby or McDavid? Even then I'm sure we'd get complaints. This team is so different from last season. We are getting a younger, hungrier team, surely that's good?

This is a guy to get excited about, 260 AHL games at 24, that's some experience for such a young guy. The issue that held him back from the NHL and excelling in the AHL stats wise was his speed, I think that he will be more than capable in our league.
Also note Corey says he can play EITHER centre or RW on the first line so he must have some options lined up who can compliment him. From the video footage he looks like he can make a pass, get him with a true goal scorer and he will be a force for us.
Welcome to Nottingham Zach, can't wait to see you play!

The two don't necessarily go hand in hand. Though i can't imagine any of them being as bad as Carter or Lawrence in that regard

If it was his speed that was an issue, he will be labelled as lazy before the end of the first game we play by some of our fanbase.

Interesting to note other UK teams where in for him too, would be nice if Sheffield where one of the teams we beat for his signature (as they where sitting on bringing Valdix back for a while so maybe Phillips said no to them and that's why they went with Valdix).

There you go Pidge, some decent quality at last. Not top line centre material though, need better for that position. Hold your horses Iginla this guy is seen as first line material , read the OS, This is a strange signing for me. Wait and see one Horses ? I read the OS Hey,Corey might see him as first line,i don't though. Dman next.....even you will like him !

I can't believe there's any negativity with this signing never mind this amount.
Over 200 AHL games and the Swedish second tier only last year. I couldn't be happier with this.

I can understand why people would be intrigued as to why he's come to the EIHL at this point but in reality it could be for a hundred reasons. Perhaps he wants to be in Europe but in an English speaking country. Perhaps he wants to reenergise his offensive production by playing in a league where he'll get top line minutes. Perhaps he's seen other players use the league as a springboard.
Either way it doesn't necessarily mean he lacks ambition or won't give his all in a Panthers jersey.

Looks a good signing. From the highlight reel he looks like a great passer so get a high quality sniper on that 1st line with him and he could rack up some good numbers.
