You've already made that joke.
Would be an odd way to announce you're bowing out, it's basically an advert for their fundraiser. I'm not overly fussed if he doesn't come back (never really got the hero worship) but I'll still believe it when he comes out and says it.

I was underwhelmed by him last season, undoubtably can punch people well but I didn't get the hype that he had about him in the NHL. At least the door is open for someone to come in and make themselves a hero amongst the fans. Hoping for a Cam type who throws the body and gets in faces the second they cross the line. Said it before but Pierre Luc Lablond would be a great addition and someone mentioned Branden Prust who I'd take in a heart beat. Both of them at the club along with Brown I think we'd have sufficient toughness. Wouldn't say no to Zac Rinaldo either along with Leblond as he's a properly good agitator and can handle himself. Many options out there, let's get a nice mix.

Just didn't endear himself to the fans the way Cam did, and didn't show nearly as much passion

For me one of the worst enforcers Panthers have had! Would wiikman had been wiped out if Cam or Barry been patrolling the ice. One doesnt think so ..amongst other cheap shots what accured over the season!

Somebody best tell Neilson, before he gets on the phone in six or seven weeks time to see how Mcgrattans flights are coming along ! 🙄 Seems he is aware From the O/S The GMB Panthers are aware there’s been lots of speculation surrounding the future career of former NHLer Brian McGrattan on social media. Officially, all we can tell you is that discussions with Brian’s representative are ongoing. A formal conclusion to those negotiations is hoped for next week and any official announcements will be made after that time.

He didn't really cut it for me and I think there's better out there. Undoubtedly very tough but never really seemed to intimidate opposition players or prevent a lot of the intimidation on our own players.

For that money you could get a cracking top line points scorer who would be a far more valuable asset to the team. If Mcgrattan hasn't decided yet what he wants to do,then he isn't committed so we don't want him back !

I'd have preferred Rosehill to be honest.

Lost any shred of respect from me for not seeking any retribution for Miika's injury. That should not have gone unpunished imo. I get that he was sent off, but if you can't get at the perpetrator you go for their enforcer or even their skill guys. He should have bossed the rest of that game.

Mcgrattan, Bordeleau, Fitzgerald, Kluts, Nickerson, etc are dinosaurs of a bygone era. Few of them are even willing to fight at all now anyway so a complete waste of an import slot and a big part of the team budget. We were just lucky that in a dire team last year at least McGratten was able to able to score a few rather than cost a few like most of the others.

Mentioned somewhere on here but I seriously think that we should try and sign Brandon Prust. Played in the DEL last season, had 4 fighting majors, somis obviously still willing and not just taking the easy ride, and he will be able to play some good hockey. Offer him the wage McGrattan was on, interest him with the uni degree and who knows, we could have a real fan favourite who shows some passion.

The season before last we struggled with getting bullied physically, probably what brought on McGratten's signing but in this league now you don't require an out and out enforcer. A couple of Lepine style players and you're fine. Just a deterrent is all that's needed, not a brawler. I enjoyed watching McGratten play, glad he put a few points up but in terms of value for money we have to do better.

As others have said, given the choice I'd much rather whatever top-level wages he was on go towards getting some better calibre forwards or a goalie like Garnett. Although he probably put bums on seats and scored more goals than we'd usually expect from that sort of role, I got the impression he never really bought in and was happy to coast about expecting the name on the back of his shirt was deterrent enough.
