Encouraging news. Will be watching it later for sure. They need to televise the sport more to raise awareness but the problem I feel here is that the only people that would actually hear about this match being on would be hockey fans. Preaching to the choir in my eyes.

The quality thus far has been excellent.
Really hope the EIHL can build on this relationship with the BBC.

Why didn't you test it a couple of weeks ago then, say at the last home league game against the Steelers ? Surely if you can broadcast a league game you can broadcast POFW.

Availability of the crew, availability of the kit, capacity & other commitments at the BBC's end, not to mention cost involved in it all. Can't we just appreciate the progress that was made? It's hopefully a big step forward.

So can we assume it was a success and now we know it's possible it will happen again on the BBC next year ? I only ask,so that i know whether or not to buy a POFW ticket early again next year. Or will they have to test it again....once all the tickets have been sold !

The Challenge Cup Final was shown in the same way on the BBC last year, dunno about the PO final. Final worked brilliantly this year, in fact all of the coverage worked brilliantly for me (listened to the semi finals in the car yesterday, then watched today's final via the BBC Sport App). Many thanks to OwenB et al for all their work on it. As an aside, it's nice to see Iggy confirming Gary has been right all along and that webcasts will affect attendance.

Hugely positive, I watched it via the app on TV, thought the coverage was very good. I got into watching ice hockey after seeing it on Grandstand all those years ago and while I appreciate there are financial decisions to be made in terms of who pays the production costs (these things aren't cheap, trust me) and the fact that I imagine the EIHL would like to see some money for the rights, you cannot put a price on this kind of exposure. The video highlights were on the BBC Sport website too, it's a great way of promoting the game in this country and in a positive manner too. Sadly you often only see hockey getting a mention when it's for the wrong reasons, the last 'big' clip I remember seeing was Joe Grimaldi's helmet-throw a couple of years back. The BBL have a hook-up with the BBC, one game live every Friday, something like that could work wonders for the EIHL. Plus that way it's shared around the clubs so one team won't feel they are missing out because they are always being televised/streamed and attendances are suffering. Well done all involved in the production
