And this symbolises the change in the game as much as anything. Yes 16 years on from the bench clearance we expect more from Panthers in terms of competing. But the entertainment value has gone too. At least back then you could turn up with a level of excitement because at least you knew there was a chance something might happen. Even last year there was an element of at least being entertained with Cam around. No I don't need fights to make hockey worth while. However a team that shows some passion and desire helps to keep you interested.

At this point it's just something to do on a Saturday night. It still edges out Saturday night TV. Just.

From the Panthers website. "New recruit Deivids Sarkanis is set to debut on Saturday at home to Coventry and it be another full house in Nottingham." Looks like he wrote the line himself, but perhaps his English is better.

So barely 400 seats left in the arena to watch a dire Nottingham Panthers team? It just shows two things;
1.) We do have the best and most loyal fans in the league, there is no arguing or denying this fact, despite all 10 clubs in the league saying they do. 2.) GM will never change anything because based on numbers, it's improving season by season for some reason. After 20 home games, we'll be sitting on around a 5900 crowd average.
Can you imagine the attendances at this point if we actually had a league winning team? Or at least a team who could entertain the crowds for 90% of home games.
As for the game, should be a relatively easy 2 points. No pressure on the players to perform, which means, they'll probably perform!

Correct decision for me. The rule clearly states it's a match penalty unintentional or not. Looking at the video not as bad as some thought live. Fitzgerald bent over and Brown had little time to pull out.

They're learning that Blaze games are often better than the Steelers games. The sport is growing, the more than find the sport captivating and interesting, the more will go to games regardless of whether the team if performing at its current level or at the very top. Personally, I try to forget about where the money is going when I buy tickets as I just love watching the sport, sure it sucks if we're playing crap and have no hope in anything but I still enjoy watching, even if it's seeing us being dismantled by other teams.

Thats all well and good and if you are happy with that fine, personally i have put in my time when it was the ISL watching a below par panthers team be taken apart by pretty much every other team and being told to suck it up cos we were playing with the big boys. NOW we should be the big boys, it should be panthers who are taking apart other teams with what should be a much bigger budget than our rivals should be able to afford. Instead what we get are excuses, like hes only injured for a couple of weeks being the stock answer just so the club dont have to do anything other than sit on their hands. We dont get a full team at the start of the season, we dont get replacements even when it is clear the players are injured or when we do they come in much too late (like this new guy)... This is supposed to be a PROFESSIONAL hockey club and as such the leading raison d'etre should be to win hockey games and ultimately win league titles, it feels, to me at least, that the emphasis is on making as much money as possible and providing a holiday vacation for some of the players...

There's no doubt on that is there Texpef? Even the most ardent management sympathiser surely admits that this is a business rather than a sports club. In fact, I'm pretty sure even Black would admit it.
I'm not even sure I blame GM. Given he's employed by Black, I imagine he's given objectives. If the objectives given by Black were to win the league, I've no doubt we'd see a very different approach. But I'm almost certain the objectives he's given are around profit....which then sets the budget, which dictates who and how many Corey can sign, which dictates the terms set to players which means that many top players allegedly won't sign for us etc etc.
Moran's a puppet. An irritating one, but a puppet nonetheless. He's not the one making a fortune out of this...

Blaze will be without;
Kevin Noble Liam Stewart
Brian Stewart has only completed an entire game once, in his last 5 starts. Stewart has also conceded 26 in his last 5 starts. Renny Marr will likely back up.
Who's Hot?;
TJ Syner - 7pts in last 5 games Robin Bergman - 7pts in last 5 games Barry Almeida - 5pts in last 5 games
Who's Not;
Jim Jorgensen - 2pts in last 5 games Ross Venus - 1pt in last 5 games Ben Davies - 0pts in last 5 games
Panthers will be without;
Jason Williams Jeff Dimmen Logan MacMillan Jeff Brown
Miika Wiikman has completed 3 of his last 5 starts, conceding 16 along the way. Pacl will likely back up.
Who's Hot?;
Stephen Schultz - 9pts in last 5 games Robert Farmer - 7pts in last 5 games Brian McGrattan - 7pts in last 5 games Brad Moran - 7pts in last 5 games
Who's Not;
Andy 'PP QB' Sertich - 0pts in last 5 games Matt Carter - 1pt in last 5 games

More effort from Lawrence thus far in the 1st period. Though that in itself isnt much of an aachievement given rwcent months Anyone would think he wants to come back next year Either that or hes actually sober Sarkanis doesnt look a game changer...... yet but its only his 1st few shifts of his 1st game....plent of time to bed in ad we dont have anything to play for but the playoffs.......

Well...that was awful...so so boring.
I actually thought we weren't going to score at one point,although Farmer's goal was beautiful.
Spoke to some of my friends who came tonight who don't usually do hockey and they enjoyed it and said it was entertaining. I wish I had the new fan buzz again
