As many will have seen today, Panthers have announced they will be following suit and having a 'Shirt off His Back' raffle at each Home Game over the season. Winners will collect the jersey post game from the locker room, from the player selected by the club before the game. Tickets are £1 and sellers can be found wearing unique jerseys with 'Shirt off His Back' on the back. A positive step forward for the club in terms of Match Night Experience, though a step which should've been made long ago. For those wondering about a Chuck-a-Puck too, Arena Health and Safety won't allow it.. Despite the pucks thrown being made of sponge. Great idea, one question arises though.
If the shirt chosen is Dan Green can you get your pound back instead?

For those wondering about a Chuck-a-Puck too, Arena Health and Safety won't allow it.. Despite the pucks thrown being made of sponge. I detect the odour of bovine excrement here... seeing as there have been plenty of 'chuck-a-<whatever>' contests at the NIC in the past. So why not now?

Not a clue, just heard from a lot of people that have asked the Arena about it that they've always raised the health and safety card. Very poor if so. The Arena probably thinks we'd use real pucks..

What a load of crap that arena comes out with. I would have thought 1000 Teddy Bears was rather more dangerous than a couple of hundred sponge pucks.
Go figure !

Or they plain don't want to and H&S is just a convenient excuse.

Couldn't really do this before we had the dye sublimated jerseys, Hicksy would've been slaving over his sewing machine all season.
I guess this also means we're not having sets of jerseys anymore?

Exactly what I thought. Improves the game experience for fans and, dare I say it, makes the club seem less remote.

Unless Panthers have a better way of picking up the things, I would be glad about that. We have 'chuck-a-duck' in Peterborough. It takes ages for the things to be cleared up. And we have a much, much smaller crowd than Panthers. It might take weeks... I hate chuck a duck.

Gives more fans the chance of a game worn shirt which is good.
It will probably earn the club more money than the auctions, when you average it out.

I'd assume the club will keep the money too and the auctions go to Charity. Very healthy profit to be made

Does this mean that the sponsors don't get a unique game worn jersey as part of their package then as potentially others will be wearing the shirt off his back. Also I would imagine the each player will have a turn at this so probably two jerseys each per home season?

Correct it's more important to do something correct for the whole fanbase instead concentrating on a handful of sponsors!

Some more excrement in the air if this explanation is true.
They had chuck a puck at the GB Poland game in April in Nottingham.

Why don't the club do something different to the Chuck a puck then if health and safety is an issue, we used to let fans shoot the pucks from the blue line and see how many they can score, that was fun to watch and they could make a competition out of it

I doubt they've been unique for a long time though, we seem to have several sets of each type of jersey every year. www.panthers.co.uk/content/silver-gold-and-platinum-player-sponsorship-big-demand-very-few-left

I think there's usually at least 2 sets of each jersey, players get a choice of what jersey they keep besides charity specials so potentially if they wanted a Gold/Home Jersey, had a sponsor, SoHB & latter auction there'd be a minimum of 4 sets.
Personally I think they should do it like the NHL where you can Pre-Order a players worn jersey at a set price, eliminating the sponsorship in a way. Usually NHL teams will have 3 sets of home jerseys, 2 sets of away and alternate (from what I've experienced with Vancouver) and then auction the special, cancer awareness, military night etc.. Jerseys. Bit of a pointless addition but Canucks also do 'Text Auctions' where you get sent a text with a link to a private auction, just have to be signed up, and they auction team equipment, practice jerseys and some Game Worn jerseys.

Found it really hard to find a seller last night. You'd have thought they'd be stood with the 50/50 sellers, but apparently there was only 3 of them!

There should've been 5 i think but 2 couldn't make the game and no cover was sorted, very poor. If there's so few of them then why not give the 50/50 sellers a book of tickets too. Disappointed they were only on sale till the end of the 1st interval too.

Same here, I asked the 50/50 seller and she said loads had asked her the same question. I also heard people asking other 50/50 sellers. None of them seemed to know.

I have to say it was poorly executed. No announcement on who it was going to be, no sellers in site and and just a bit of a hash. It's the first time so surely it can only get better?

You're not the only one who found it really hard to find a seller last night, thought I would like to have a go myself, no matter whoever's shirt it was, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be on this occasion, hopefully next time if I can find them. I agree though that they should have been stood with the 50/50 sellers or at least be in close proximity as I managed to find them. If true, I'm suprised to hear there were only 3 of them, I would have thought for something that is very likely to be popular that there would be more sellers, surely?
