David Simms has confirmed at his 'An Evening With' event that the Challenge Cup Final will be held at Ice Arena Wales, Cardiff.
IAW has a capacity of 3,088.
Nice venue, just not big enough. Tickets would be split 50/50 meaning each side gets 1500 tickets..

Well that's a bloody stupid decision !
Let's hope the final is either Panthers v Steelers and they lose out on 3000 plus tickets. Or it's Fife v Dundee and the crowd is 342.
Madness !!!

It's a very strange decision for me. I can't think of any potential final where this venue actually works out well for both teams. Possibly Coventry V Manchester which is how likely?
I do understand that Nottingham couldn't be used as we have the POFW but why was Sheffield not an option again this year? Not profitable enough is my guess.
I think I'd have just preferred to go back to a two legged final than potentially have a lot of dissapointed Nott'm, Sheffield and Cardiff fans because it's more than just a few that will miss out if one or more get to the final.

I think the two legged final is the best option as it gives both sets of fans a chance to see there own team in large numbers on a important occasion

Not got a problem with the one off final. Always loved the b&h cup finals.. the one thing I'd like to see happen is the final to be played in early December!

I almost feel like the more pertinent question is why DS was allowed to announce this at an event he was hosting!

So it'd be better to play to 342 people inside the cavernous Sheffield arena? Agree with Pidge about the 1 off final, makes it more of an occasion for me, if done correctly, not just something that slips by on a Wednesday evening and you barely notice (unless you're in it of course). Seems a decent idea to give the shiniest new rink in the league one of the two marquee events, see what they can do with it. Doesn't have to be played there forever. And if the two biggest fanbases do get there, then some of us will miss out and have to watch it online (hopefully).
