Wow that looks like a quality group in Spain......Not !
It does naff me off though that the French teams seem to always be classed as better than ours. Other than when we lost to Rouen,I don't think i can hardly ever remember a British team losing to a French team and Panthers,Braehead and Cardiff have played a lot of pre season games over the last few years.

Panthers battered Rouen and Amiens (Not necessarily on the scoreboard) when playing in the Napoleon Cup in 2014 too. They're good teams, probably made out to be better due to their National Team being a lot better than ours.

No offence meant here but were you even watching hockey then? your account was created Dec 14... True enough though as regards quality of hockey in England compared with France certainly in the clubs that splash the cash anyway...

True enough though as regards quality of hockey in England compared with France certainly in the clubs that splash the cash anyway... I've been going for over 13 years now. Bit surprising you're questioning how long i have been watching hockey based off the account creation date though. I lurked around on here without an account for a few years. A fair few of the French National Team grew up in France, but then soon moved to elsewhere in Europe, or North America for junior development. Then the ones that stayed through the French System seemed to stay put until they got an offer from Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, ECHL, AHL etc.. Suppose, looking bluntly at it, the French seem very much like the type who will take any opportunity with both hands. Whilst it's only recently really that British juniors have started heading off to the States for College Hockey and the odd one or two for Juniors in Sweden, Finland, Germany. The French Ligue Magnus does have a fairly strong domestic player bias too, with a lot of the French players being quite young too. They like their balance of imports and hungry French youngsters, compared to us with the Import Bias and very few chances for youngsters which understandably, i suppose, is fair enough in why French teams are generally ranked above ours.

Did The Panthers not bid to host this stage, I find it strange that it's being in Spain as I can't see a high turnout for this (Other than The Panther fans)

Would certainly expect Panthers to qualify through from that group, and I would imagine we didn't bid to host on this occasion. How bizarre though that 2 days on from the draw the club website still doesn't make any mention of it.....

They like their balance of imports and hungry French youngsters, compared to us with the Import Bias and very few chances for youngsters... Absolute cods. Plenty of 'youngsters' have made their way into the sport over here and have opportunities to, if they're good enough. Ranking should take into account the overall quality of the domestic league, not the fact that they have a bias towards homegrown players or thar the national team might be better. Given the disparity between games played in a standard season (Ligue Magnus = 26, EIHL = 52) its even more baffling as to how they have been compared. The EIHL has a longer, more intensive season The only obvious thing that puts the Ligue Magnus ahead of the EIHL is that the former is a larger league (14 teams). Other than this they have many of the same problems as the EIHL, such as financial issues, the 'haves/have nots', rink teams vs arena teams, high turnover of imports, etc.

Why hasn't the Panthers OS put anything on about this yet?
Not even anything on Twitter. Tad shambolic that or are we not bothered?

I'm guessing it hasn't been announced in the hope this is going under the radar. That way the club can bag the best and cheapest flights prior to fans driving the prices up! Either that or the lack of fan interaction and poor use of social media is at an all time low!

Not even Jaca have announced they're hosting it. As for flights, Panthers will probably charter one if they don't go via ferry/coach. Far too much messing around for them with equipment to travel with the public. Apparently Eddie, who was responsible for the Social Media has either gone on holiday for the summer or has returned home to Finland.

And old DInosaur GM doesn't know one end of social media from the other. But the main reason is Panthers aren't hosting it,so there are no tickets to sell and therefore no profits to be made in Pantherland. If we were hosting it,you can bet your last penny that it would have been splashed all over the website two days ago with several reminders each week thereafter !

I'm surprised he doesn't shove the Social Media stuff to the office staff, i'm sure they'll be busy sorting out paperwork etc.. but at least they're technologically capable and could let us know interesting stuff other than ST crap. If Panthers want to make money from it they'll find a way, they'll create a Continental Cup jersey and hope the sales of replicas/game worns cover the cost of the pain in the arse travel to get to Jaca. Who knows though, if Jaca haven't announced anything, perhaps all of the clubs are in communication to sort out ticketing and game schedules before announcing anything, just so they get all the information out in one go.

That arena in Jaca looks immense Don't think it's quite as immense inside if you are looking at the ice from the seats. Looks a bit Whitley bay type white and uninteresting to me !

I didn't mean immense as in "big", I meant it in as much as it looks impressive and modern. A seriously futuristic looking place

A seriously futuristic looking place They get pretty good crowds too, had 1500 for a Women's game which is surprising* It's also the only ice sports complex to have 2 rinks next to each other. With one side of the glass on the outside of the roof being thicker than the other side due to temperature control. Sounds like a very modern, well planned out rink which is pretty amazing considering the lack of stature for Spanish Ice Hockey. *Only in the sense that it's Spain, and not that it's women's hockey before anyone throws the sexism card out haha!

Eddie no longer with the Panthers? I bumped into him in Ice Locker a few weeks ago and asked him what his plans were. He told me he didn't know if he'd be back next season.
