I don't know what to make of this guy. Obviously he comes highly recommended but his points don't seem fantastic and only his second pro year. Wait and see for me. Also would he be on a two year deal having signed with a uni deal? Stats: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=32735

I like the looks of him. Always an element of wait and see - people have come here with worse CVs and torn it up!

He has been suggested by ling and ling knows what it takes over here and thinks that Jeff brown has it so I don't think he will be a dud.

A bit of a wait and see signing due to his CV and role but on the flipside Ling has highly recommended him so I can imagine he must be a good player. With him apparently being friends with Larry hopefully that can persuade Larry to sign back with us for next season and maybe a brilliant on ice chemistry could be made.

It makes you feel old when we start signing players whose fathers you can remember playing. If he's half as good as his old man, he should be fine.

Impressive that he wore one of the A's so early on for them. Anyone Ling recommends is fine by me.

Spoken highly of him all week so glad it's set in stone now. I think he's a similar player to MacMillan, both can play the Power Forward role well and given a chance and a confidence boost, i think they'd do very well on the points board too. I really want to see both sides of Brown, he can score goals and he's quick & physical.. Both things we need and like, i just hope he gets a chance to show off his skills.
Recommended by Ling, must take something pretty noticable for him to get the backing of Linger. It does sound very much like Corey is basing the signing off of the recommendation and that he wasn't on his 'radar' whatsoever beforehand but to get a University Deal he's got to have shown a lot of passion and interest in coming over here, as well as talking about what he could bring to the team.
Brown is very good friends with Lawrence and i believe Brown wouldn't have signed for us so soon should Lawrence not be returning. Expect a bit more news soon!

The more i think about this signing the more i like it. I see Jeff brown to be a Leigh Salters/ Kelsey Wilson type signing. He should be good for (depending on line mates) about 0.75 points per game in our league which is fine for a power forward. He also adds the ability to play any forward position so can fill if guys take knocks on other lines. Plus he has worn A's and C's so you would hope hes a positive force in the locker room.
The only thing that will make this a bad signing is if we dont sign enough points in the remaining forward slots. Assume we get Lawrence back. We then need to sign 2 top 4 points scorers (kolnik and bohmbach slots).
Again assuming we get Myers and Lawrence back, we look big up front. Farmer, Macmillan, Janssen, Myers, Brown, Lawrence. If nothing else we're going to be a hand full physically. Just need the flair to complement it.

Cardiff were big and physical up front and had flair and look what they won last season. Wait and see what Jeff brings but we need two serious goal scorers if we want the league title and two very capable D men

If you are right in assuming Lawrence does come back......the last two import forwards need to be absolutely bloody top notch. Because either that,or we will have a bunch of grinders with nowhere near enough firepower in the goals department. Now when did we say that before....oh yes it was last year. So far we are going Groundhog Day again !

Wait and see what Jeff brings but we need two serious goal scorers if we want the league title and two very capable D men I reckon we need one goal scorer Kolnik or a replacement Cook/ Doucet type. And one playmaker to put next to Schultz, Ling/ Galbraith/ Fox type. 100% with you on the D men, they need to be very solid stay at home signings.

Welcome to Nottingham Jeff! I think he will surprise people, I'm tipping him to be in a similar mould to Salters, it's a case of how do we use him, we could have a brilliant forechecking, energy line consisting of him Macmillan and Janssen, exciting times ahead!

I think Jeff Brown will be like our version of Justin Faryna.

What I'd really like now is for Corey to put the ball in Cam's court and ask him to tap up some of his NHL contacts or players that he's played with and get some real quality up front

So far we are going Groundhog Day again ! Completely agree with this. It seems Panthers' business model is to sign a cheapish team to start the season, good enough to scrape through the CC group stages and stay close-ish in the league, and then spend more after Christmas in an attempt to win the CC and the play offs. In fact, Black has said this hasn't he? Doesn't he say spend season ticket money only up to Christmas, and then top up after Christmas based on ticket sales? This chap looks OK, but not amazing. And we need amazing at this stage. I wonder if he's been signed as a replacement for Myers. If Lawrence is back as well then we're seriously short of goals. And he's not a Kelsey Wilson/Salters because, for a start, he's nowhere near as tough.

Can't help but think that this is a direct replacement for a departing Matthew meyers

I got to see this guy play last season when I went to watch Brampton last year. He's panthers kinda player IMO and I would like to think in the EIHL he'll put up good numbers.

from what ive seen on twitter the beasts fans seemed to love him and wanted him to stay with them so he cant be bad with a reference from linger and the fans wanting him to stay.

Bet you will continue writing him off and telling dodyfan he is wrong even though he has watched him play. Just wait and see what he is like before we all go on about he's apparently a cheap and low quality signing. There's still 3 and a half months left before the start of the season so can't tell what this team will be like just yet.

Don't forget, there is no limit on the number of players we can have in our squad. Maybe we will finally go with a few spares from the start???
