Only been supporting since 2009, but the best player that I've ever seen comfortably. His ability to pick a pass and wind the opposition up at ease will be sorely missed. Sounded particularly emotional on interview, which shows it wasn't a decision taken lightly. I for one am gutted, but all I can say is thanks for everything David Ling, best of luck with everything at home.

Gutted. Only saw him play this season and he fast became one of my favourites. I don't use the word legend in this context but, well, you know... the guy is a legend.
I wish him well with what he needs to do too.

Family will always come first but selfishly what a massive loss to our team.
Gutted doesn't come close

All the best to the best player I have seen play in this league. Always made the game look very easy.
Biggest disappointment is the Bohmbach-Ling-McMillan combo finally seemed to have been the answer to getting the most out of Lings quality.

Family first. Fair enough. Most of us would do the same.
Wasn't quite sure he would live up to the expectation of the GS season but this weekend put that to bed. Gutted.
Pretty ireplacable like for like you'd think at this point. Not sure where we go as I would suggest replacing with a Dman but the club stated we've been looking for a while and there isn't one out there "apparently".

Absolutely gutted - but family first - good luck David and thanks for all the memories, you have certainly left on a high - if there is a positive in this week-end it is that we have two weeks to find a replacement, but doubt they will be able to match Ling - likely he knew about this over the week-end and to play two games like he did shows just what a professional he is - thanks again David

Simply gobsmacked and in disbelieve, David Ling has had the weekend to remember, watched both tonight's game on Premier Sports and last nights game, sheer class and simply put LEGEND!!! He was on fire the last 3 or 4 games. Was simply awesome last night (Saturday) and Tonight. I agree that 'Family will always come first' but what a time to depart us but Ling whatever you say about him deserves to be respected and all the best to him in his future En-devours and Thank you Linger

Due to family matters David Ling is returning to North America. The 41-year-old forward broke the news to his teammates of his decision in the locker room after the game in Dundee on Sunday night.
In an emotional interview on Panthers Radio (with Xynomix) the popular forward who had four big assists in Saturday’s win over Braehead and two goals in Dundee, could barely get the words out.
David has asked us to pass on his thanks to the fans and says he believes and hopes this year’s Panthers can lift silverware “if only to make me feel better”.
He talks of never having quit anything in his life, he says his dad will be rolling in his grave but he has to ‘put the children first’.
He told us: “I don’t feel right but I have to do this as a dad.”
The club wishes him well and understands that he needs to be closer to home at this time.
David was part of the Grand Slam winning team three seasons ago and although in the veteran category these days has shown he still has the talent and flare to light up any game.
Head coach Corey Neilson was already checking the recruitment market with the deadline looming and has widened his search in the light of the loss of David.

No hard feeling family should always come first.
What a loss for us though. Big test for Corey now. Our season could hinge on who he can get in now.

Bombshell! Another big reason to carry spare players, this type of thing can happen at any time. Seeing as though we have been trying to replace Peckham all season, replacing long in a matter of days is impossible. What a great excuse for the org to have.
Good luck ling.
