It's the netminding. Too many soft goals being let in, which is a shame as Madolora looked good to start with.
We didn't take our chances as well as we should either.

This game was like a microcosm of our season, awesome to start with (we literally destroyed Clan in the first 20). Second we got sloppy at the back and let them back in while missing chance after chance at the other end.
Third was just horrible, they looked lost! Maldonara (sp) looked so shaky he was all over the place for some of those goals. Lawrence had his worst game since his return as well.
I am not confident going to Braehead and winning the second leg.

Gave a lot up tonite considering Clan outplayed and outshot us over last two periods.Lanzp you may want to retract the comment of the Clans conference being farcical supported by Fife beating Sheffield in Sheffield tonite although losing the aggregate by one goal

It's another panthers patten, new netminder comes in, starts off superbly, realises we don't care about defence and leave him hung out. Netminder a form drops off. It's happened many times.

I knew it was a poor attendance before I even saw the pictures. Managed to get parked up (for hockey training) very near to the arena.
Stood downstairs waiting for the game to finish it sounded like there wasn't even a game going on.
Gary Moran held the door open for me as I walked around to the bench though, which was nice.

At this point you have to start putting Corey under pressure. No consistency in the play at all and by the sounds of it we start strong, opposition make adjustments and we stay as arrogant as ever and fail to adjust to their changes and it is costing us. To give up a four goal lead is not excusable whether it be goal tending, defence or goal scoring/lazy zonal play.

So we give up a four goal lead. Bearing in mind there is the Quiz the night before the away leg, will there be a 'no drinking' order that night? Then there will be 'bus legs' going up on the day! Much as I love and support Panthers they have put themselves in a very difficult position.

Apart from the fact Finnerty did make changes from the 2nd onwards because his keeper had a nightmare in the 1st we also made changes too which really didn't work out. 4 nil up in the first home leg I would have thought more of the same would have been the clever thing to do. I also noted on the CN interview on the OS with interest that he blamed the players for not doing as he wanted.

I am just going to comment on the attendances. Manchester was 521 Sheffield was in Ice Sheffield so obviously at their capacity at the best. However its the first time I can remember where there isn't a figure available for the NIC.

At least twice previously this season Panthers have not published attendance figures. 03/10/2015 (Coventry) and 17/10/2015 (Sheffield).

Did he call a time out at all tonight when we started shipping goals? I went last night, 1st period was great and we even had a proper power play with Slap Shots for a change ( instead of pass the puck, stop it ,wait 2 seconds ( for Net minder to set and D to move).... shoot at Goal) The rest of the game was the same Rubish I have come to expect from a Neilson Team.... no Plan B . Did We have a Timeout when we started Shipping Goals? what do you think ? there is no plan B to talk about! I am now almost hoping we win nothing this year, as it is the only possible way we will ever get rid of Neilson, he should have gone 2 seasons ago. As they say, it has to get worse for it to get better! Can't see me wasting money on the playoffs

All that seemed to happen is that the Clan reacted to their performance in the first period, during which they were second to almost every loose puck, and turned up for the rest of the game, whilst the Panthers took their foot off the gas slightly. Two perfectly rational human reactions to what had happened in the first, albeit the Panthers' reaction was not the most professional of responses and so I can understand if Corey was not happy with that. That first period was the best I've seen us play this season (I haven't been to every game so there could have been better periods) so perhaps a little unrealistic to expect that level of performance to be sustained through 60 minutes but the potential is there when we can roll four lines with each line shifting for a minute or less.

Did he call a time out at all tonight when we started shipping goals? The goals were 4 mins apart between 1st and 2nd, 16 mins between 2nd and 3rd, and another 4 mins between 3rd and 4th. Not the usual scoring rate at which you are looking for the coach to call a timeout so the team can regroup (2 goals in the first 5 minutes of a game, goals on consecutive shifts, 3 goals in 5 mins - things like that which the coach will need to address).

The number of finalist's from this conference may show a weaker Erhardt however clearly this year any team can beat anyone on a given night. Bus legs were apparent for Clan not poor play as stated, at 4-0 you do not come back as strongly as they did without solid team play.

Finnerty certainly put the emphasis on the Matt Keith line playing a lot harder and it worked straight away.

Has anyone had a look at the highlights? The music on there drowns out the commentary and what there was of a crowd. Has this been done before? Or is it a misguided attempt to bring our highlights up to speed?
Or maybe that's the 'pint sized' highlights that I've clicked on. Also, can anyone here tell me the point of pint sized highlights?

There weren't any commentators at this game Safety3rd,they both got sent down to the bowl to try to boost the crowd ! A spokeswoman said.....music seemed a good idea for these highlights, that way when we scored nobody could hear the deafening crowd silence.
And pint sized highlights, there is no point,it just means less work for Moran to do.
