Why are we so poor in the media department?

GM the GM has long stated that he won't routinely stream games until games are routinely sold out.
There are arguements for and against but it's his trainset and he believes that running an £8 or so stream (which multiple people can watch) could hit the sale of match tickets which, truth be told, it likely would.

if this is the case, why doesn't it reduce attendances significally at the 8 other teams that DO provide webcasts. For example the number of Giants fans attending todays game wouldn't have reduced if there had been a webcast available, but on the flip side of that the number of Giants fans that would have purchased webcast would have added to ever grow Mr Black bank balance just noticed this post on Twitter from a former Panther :- Brock Wilson @wilsonb25 · 2 hrs2 hours ago 2 of the best fan bases W/ no live webcast @panthersihc & @braeheadclan Mr. Black... Get with the times!! #Unacceptable #Revenue

All the teams in the league shoulld be required to do a live webcast if they really are serious about the league developing here. I remember the same argument about football many years ago.

I Don't get it. The technology is there to do a webcast and to black it out for a radius of your choice. Madness

If GM is worried about lack of ticket sales due to webcast why not make it so you can view it so many miles out of Nottingham? Sure Sheff did this once

I have to agree with you claretgiant, I haven't come across any Panthers fans who says they would buy the webcast for home games in preference to buying a ticket for a live game. I am sure the club are losing money with their current stance on the situation.

It is a tad silly.
There would have been at least 300 Giants fans willing to pay to watch it. At £8 a pop thats a lot of money the club is missing out on!

It only takes a few panthers fans to buy a live stream instead of paying at the door and all the giants money is lost

The solution to the problem as others have stated is to set the viewing range so it is external to a certain proximity, simple as

I really don't get why this isn't in place and don't even think you need to restrict the area the stream is available. The bulk of crowds are season ticket holders and real regulars who I can't see you losing to pay to watch games on a laptop each week. If you want to go every week you'll still go every week. A large amount of the rest of Saturday crowds are people going to the game as part of a night out again won't be lost. Finally Sunday's are a lot more families wanting to take the kids out. Again you're not going to lose them to sit at home and watch a game on a laptop.
Offset that against away supporters and just as bigger potential of panthers fans at university, moved from the area, ex players, families of players etc and I'd be amazed if this lost revenue.
The simple question to me is how many of the floating type fans would know any of our rivals did live streams? The answer I imagine wouldn't be many. In general those that would know about the streams would be the most keen supporters who you are unlikely to lose from home crowds.

Quite frankly why anyone would give up the live experience for a webcast from a single camera is beyond me.

I'm a season ticket holder now but as a student I sometimes wouldn't have been able to afford £14 for every game, but could maybe stretch to £8 for a webcast which I did sometimes for away games and would have been extra income Whenever I had the money I would be down at arena however like many have said

The more people that go to games, the more money for Panthers through tickets and merch. Plus more money for the arena with the sales of food and drink, that keeps them happy and if they're happ,y we have a home. It's Neil Black who's decided on the live streaming, Braehead don't offer it either due to the same reasons. You can't blame him but it would be nice to have the important/likely sell out games to be streamed.

Well Mr Black obviously isn't as smart as he thinks. Because Braehead are selling out their little rink.....so if he offered a webcast there it could only make even MORE money.
They should try it in Braehead and see what happens to crowds,If they stop selling out then there's the answer.
Errr rocket science......NOT !!!!!!!!!!

The more people that go to games, the more money for Panthers through tickets and merch. That is massively flawed. People who can't get to the game, for whatever reason, contribute nothing financially to ticket income. Give them the option of a web stream, and then they do contribute. Panthers seem to be of the opinion that some people would choose not to go on the night and settle for a web stream.

Time to put a poll up I think.
Would you sometimes watch a webcast or would you always still go ?

Personally, I would go to the game.
For a family though, £8 to watch on line as opposed to 2 adult and 2 junior tickets is quite a saving. If they are going to eat, a pizza delivered in its a lot cheaper than one at Pizza Express, even with the offer. Add in the cost of getting to the game/parking, drinks at the arena, then a family would save a lot, and Panthers and the arena would lose out.
