With most teams toughening up substantially, I did wonder if they have been encouraged to increase the spectacle somewhat. I guess we'll see when the stripeys meet Janssen.
Obviously fighting isn't the be all and end all, but I hope they don't just jump on him, Nickerson and the rest as soon as they look at another player. A lot of people don't like the physical stuff, but equally a fair few do enjoy the edge that it brings.

Lets face it he's going to be knackered. A long flight and two tough matches. I'll surprised to see him Sunday cos of Cardiff start winding him up Saturday he'll be banned on Sunday.

Interesting post.... He's played at a silly level so shouldn't be tired at two games in two days but, going forward, we have to use this guy properly. He's been a role player in the past playing limited minutes. Will we throw him in to more minutes & tire him out like Belfast did with Westgarth last season? We have to use him wisely to get the best out of him.

Mods, can we get the player's name spelt correctly on the title of the thread please? Let's show the guy some respect.

Have you seen the NHL schedule??? This guy has adapted over however many seasons. He may have a few cobwebs but he will be fine. He won't be playing top line minutes.

I wouldn't play him Saturday, I hate to say it's only a cup game... But it's only a cup game so it isn't that important that he plays (I get the need to gel with linemates etc. but with the role he's going to undertake I don't think that's going to be overly required for Cam).
I'd rather have him fresher for the game on Sunday that counts for league points, take him down to watch on Saturday so he gets a feel for how the game over here is played and how the officials call things plus it gives him an extra day to get the airmiles out of his legs (not that he needs that because he will have flown coast to coast in the states and played the next night many times in his career).

Just play him. Even if it's low minutes on Saturday. He will be a deterrent which we could do with.
We've got a lot of skill out there so let's reduce the odds of people taking liberties.

Cam won't mind flying over and jumping on the ice the next day. Cup game. It's a perfect game to throw him in. Send a message against them early.

Funny that Cam has his own 2 page thread on the Devils forum already - and how they hope he wont lay a finger on their little darlings and how they're going to ignore him hope he puts Doucet/Martin etc through the boards on his first shift The ice is yours Cam

Could be an interesting weekend. Sunday evening v Belfast will give us some idea of how we have progressed but I do like the squad so far.

Gilly, I think you will find that whilst he's been a topic of discussion, it's mainly been if no-one reacts to him will he bring anything to your team and that a genuine question. Also the same can be said if we plant the likes of Myers, Clarke and some of your skilled guys through the boards as you so deftly put it. I'm guessing he will react which will then take your main enforcer out for 5mins or possibly the game if he's ejected, given the stripes in this league that could be a distinct possibility. Anyhows I'm sure it will be a good game with both sides looking to lay markers down for the season ahead.

This makes me laugh coming for the thugs of the Elite league, top in penalty last season already top this season, and with addition of Salters (1 match ban already) and a player coach that every now and then does something reckless and dangerous like he did in a friendly against Coventry no doubt they will be the top PIM again this season.
Cardiff will be concerned if Cam plays, Im not sure he will but with 10 fixtures between the clubs things will rumble next time.

I'd like to think he's looking forward to playing some hockey and just wants to get out on the ice/concrete slab in Cardiff. Hopefully he plays his usual game. No doubt cardiffs heavys will want a pop at him but here's hoping he just draw penalties and fights if he really has too.

On the other hand if hes a typical hard hitting power forward then he will definitely contribute either way. wouldn't be surprised to see Cardiff take this, having hit the ground running already as expected. just hope we get a bit closer than we ever seemed to last year

Gilly, there were some good games against you guys last year, you definitely have upgraded this year as we have. My question about Janssen was a genuine one, are panthers fan expecting him to contribute points wise on a fairly regular basis with more ice time or do you expect neilson to use him like giant's used westgarth?. Personally I can't see the point in any Devils player going with him as there's nothing to gain by fighting him, if it happens it will be a better trade off for panthers rather than the Devils.
