Both Berube and Wild have now alluded to Panthers money issues and as Berube pointed out players aren't reporting
Have we finally stretched the finances to far between us and the clan?
I'd expect this of a certain rival and it is embarrassing for us to start down that slippery slope.

This is terrible. They need to address this. Either pay up or take legal action against these ex players.
The clan has got to have been a massive drain but I'm sure we can easily afford it.
I'm more worried about this London team talk, that could waste millions.

We seemed to be moving so quickly in the right direction with community engagement, roster and general feel but now the wheels seem to have come off dislodging the skeletons in the closet. I don't feel this is Corey's fault, this stinks of upper management and ownership, maybe even above GM.

Where did Berube allude to the Panthers having money issues?

anyone got the berube's twitter account details as I would like to read it. I think its @mberube but im not sure and his tweets are safe mode so you have to follow him first and get him to accept you (which I don't think will be a problem)

Not a chance of being in trouble. It's just a player or two who probably had money stopped for either damage to club property or racked up some speeding or parking fines.
Bearing in mind Panthers record for being tightfisted, does anybody seriously think we would have the roster we have this season if we were short of a few hundred quid to pay an ex player ?
No way in this world !

Don't confuse can't pay with won't pay The problem is, people will confuse this. That's why it needs clearing up. I've not heard of players complaining like this before? I don't for one minute believe panthers are anywhere near broke. Tight, yes. Shifting money earned from panthers fans elsewhere, certainly.

So you don't THINK we are broke, but you are certain that we move money elsewhere (presume you mean Braehead) Which is it? Are you "in the know" or aren't you?

Some bed wetting on an epic scale in this thread. Quite. A couple of ex-players post something on Twitter and all of a sudden the Panthers are in financial trouble? Dear oh dear... Same thing with the whole Braehead issue - oh, Neil Black's got another team to spend money on, that's most of our budget gone! <rolls eyes> I don't believe that any recent failings can be ascribed to the Panthers not spending enough money... but rather in not getting value for money. Players that weren't up to it, or couldn't be bothered, or whatever (and despite all of the 'all-knowing' pronouncements from various fans, we don't have any proof as to exactly who or what caused the problems - it's all guesswork).

I know exactly why Theo hasn't reported as Mrs Markus and (the new) Mrs Peckham are social media friends and have exchanged messages about it. Obviously it would be inappropriate for me to post what was actually said, but suffice to say Tracy received a lovely message from Theo's wife who explained the whole thing, the reasons are entirely personal and have NOTHING to do with the Panthers finances.
I say no more, but trust me.

Jamie Black tweeted last night
Jamie Black @jamieblackeihl 11 hours ago @nate_Schulz83 Don't take financial advice from these guys. We make sure their bills are paid before settling up.
I think in the case of Berube I think he could be stirring it, he surely knew many of the fanbase thought he was a poor defenceman and there was a suggestion that he was running an account on here, like Tuma did, to defend himself. So clearly knowing that he was not respected or liked could have gotten to him, so this could be a way of hitting back at the fans and the club.
Thank god that one is gone, was one of the worst I have seen in a Panthers top... in my opinion!!!!

Don't confuse can't pay with won't pay I've not heard of players complaining like this before? Social media is a relatively new medium. That's probably the main reason why we haven't seen anything like this before. We now live in an age where everyone has the facilities to say what they want, when they want to the whole world. In years past I imagine there were some quite frank telephone calls from the players to the management. Now it's just easier to troll on twitter!!

I'll forego commenting on the comedy gold at the start of this thread and make a more serious point. In all EIHL contracts (yes players and clubs have some!) there is a clause allowing clubs to withhold payment of wages at certain times to either cover any debts built up by the player in the form of not paying their bills/TV/internet etc, or if they leave their lodgings in a mess when they leave for the summer. I'd say it's far more likely a player or two hasn't paid their bills or whatnot, and the club used part of their wages to pay it for them and said players have interpreted this as the club not having enough money. I remember a certain Clan player moaning about this a few years ago and he also went to social media implying the same sort of thing. Turned out in reality he left a few bills unpaid and hence part of the notice money was used to clear it!

Probably exactly the same as the case you mentioned Discoray. I don't know any of the players these days but 10 odd years ago knew most of the team and there were quite a lot of them who left outstanding bills, accommodation in a mess or with stuff broken. The club then withheld some of their final wages to cover these debts. This is pretty standard stuff really and all teams have similar arrangements.
