For all the people who moan about Chris Lawrence as a hockey player that's fine. As a human being, the man is top notch. He didn't need to go there last night, he didn't need to do anything that was asked if him but he did with good spirits.

I hate Testimonials. It's nice for players to get recognition but the events are always boring in my opinion. Players having mock fights, players children playing/fighting and super fans running the bench. All too cheesy for my liking. Did you go?

I think the comment about "super fans" is unfair on this occasion, the event organisers did advertise this opportunity for a £100 fee. It was open to all on a first come first served basis. If you are referring to Jono, he responded within minutes of the offer so got the opportunity. There were six places available to run the bench.

I think I like the idea of these testimonial games more than the reality. Kinda feels like intruding on someone else's party, or something. It's good to see the old faces though, was nice for Kowalski to get the send off he deserves, and as mentioned many times already Lawrence was a terrific sport for getting involved.

Been to testimonials before and they're always the same tacky cheese. I could go watch kids play for free. I could also see half the players play in competitive games every week in the EIHL. I bet some people found it hilarious when the goal was pushed off when someone was taking a shot. Each to their own.

Credit to Lawrence, even although it looked like he was playing at his normal pace!
It was a good night, not for the hockey purists but good fun.
Stupdily, I managed to leave my two programmes at the shirt auction though.

Plenty of people did find it hilarious, it was good fun, like they all are. One thing that is for certain is that it was a lot more entertaining than being at a 3rd/4th Place Playoff game.

Each to their own. They're supposed to be cheesy and have a lot of fan involvement. It's not a serious game, half of those on the ice have paid to come over and be there for Corey and to have a good time, a few are too old or just not fit enough for a full blown game and it all raises the spirits of the players involved. It keeps friendships going between teamates/former teammates. It's a celebration not a competition. Fans paying to 'coach' the game, admittedly it didn't look like they did anything at all but it still gives them the experience of being behind the bench with a selection of some brilliant guys in front of them, gives them a look at the game from a different perspective. Plus the money all goes to Corey's chosen charity, Headway. The whole event was to celebrate Corey's milestone, to celebrate players past and present for all they have given to us and raise money for a great cause which does a lot of work with Concussions, you know? the thing that crippled our team last season and has badly effected former players in the past. It was a great night and a great performance from all involved.

I thought the reason for forums was to read different opinions? Are the only posts allowed ones that are pro testimonials? Seems rather odd that you used a forum to show your opinion on my post!

I thought the pre-game video showcasing Corey's record was in a different ballpark to our intro. Get whoever did that to have a go for us.
(Or have another go for us, if it's the same guys.)

Chris Lawrence played his part well.
They should do forfeits instead of penalties in the Elite League lol
The jerseys are much better than the actual season jerseys.
One other thing, did anyone else feel it was irresponsible for Tennis Balls to be launched at players. Imagine if Bohmbach got injured or even worse if we had injured another teams player i.e. Boxill. I could imagine one ball going in front of someone and tripping them up. If this happened at another teams testimonial and we heard that Tennis Balls were launched at one of our players, I don't think we wouldn't be happy about it. Maybe i'm thinking too much into it.

The tennis balls onto the ice gimmick was actually a lot more controlled than it looked. This years Panthers players, as well as the All Stars knew it was going to happen, they were prepared, the balls were released at the appropriate time (with the guys waiting for it) which is why it was a successful part of the event with no injuries.

I'd imagine it's just as easy to get hurt or injured skating round at half pace with no real warm up routines etc. Whilst I do understand what you're getting at I do think that you are looking into it a bit much. Sure someone could have stepped on one, but I'd imagine that the skates would do more damage to the ball than anything else really. So long as these guys know about it and it isn't just thrust on them as a surprise then I don't have an issue with it. They players know that it's going to be a relaxed and fun evening with silly things to do.

Wanted to but couldn't get to this. Glad people seemed to think it went well. Not into shirt retirements and their reasons, we should have a merit/ honour board only, Corey testimonial money to charity is marvellous.
