The way it's going I think we could all do with a lift and he was entertaining when he got a bit crazy but not that crazy he got chucked out!

Id much rather we tried to bring Gui Lepine back. Left to try and make it in NA and after doing well, is now back in the ECHL i believe.

Lepine would be a great addition, but I believe I read somewhere that he was captaining his new team so it probably would be difficult task to get him back

No way would I want Henley back....
However we need a clear out as we are the laughing stock at the moment. We have lost 14 competitive games so far and one of those was League/CC game to Hull!!

Lepine is the captain of his ECHL team so I'd think he's a no return and still could be pulled up to the AHL. We clearly need some toughness and Mr marmite Henley was a beast, if not him then there's plenty of former NHL tough guys doing nothing.

Henley is the last player this team needs. If I was to bring back any defence man from last year it would be Chris Murray.

So we can't hit a barn door with the forwards we have, let's change the defence!
Brilliant.

Henley wouldn't be my first choice but i can kind of understand where people are coming from on this.
I'd be happy if they tried virtually anything to improve this team. We're so dull and omne dimensional, no skill, no creativity, not enough goals, no phyicality. Fine otherwise though.
Sitting back (apparently) doing nothing and crossing fingers in the hope things will work/get better seems to be the current mindset though.

Bring back who you like, we need to shed a couple first and I don't mean players.

Oreskovic or Tuukka Makela would be decent additions, neither go OTT but will drop the gloves when required to or to add a spark to our dwindlng flames. Wouldn't mind too much seeing Henley back, great fighter, decent player when he played but bordering zero discipline. I feel the reason he got into so much trouble last season was due to a lot of other teams players being players he's got history with. Lepine would be great but he's Captain of Evansville and although they aren't doing brilliantly, this is a big step forward in his career and if he remains Captain for the whole season he'll be called up to the AHL and invited to NHL/AHL Try-Outs without a doubt. There are plenty of NHL/AHL etc.. free agents out there should we look to sign a tough guy and with our Uni deals it'd help a hell of a lot. Some of the current free agents; Krys Barch www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=10997Jeremy Yablonski www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=14184Adam Huxley www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=22626I don't think enforcers will change our fortune though, looking around the leagues at current free agents, there are plenty of great, high scoring players who could do us some good; Not much of a career so far but he tore Holland to shreds last season, Erik Vos; www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=39458 and how about former Giant and also another who tore Holland a new one, Josh Prudden; www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=10636

Nah, preferred this one:- Don Henley singing "American Pie" at an opponents enforcer would have more impact on a game than Brent Henley.

Imagine the buzz if we get dominated on Boxing Day. Yet Henley and penner appear in the line up for the 27/12 and we go out swinging.
Every single player would come out a foot taller.
I'd cancel the clear out. At least we'd be entertained.

It would be good but after that first game, then the DOPS review, the 10 game bans each - not for any fighting, for some standard run of the mill trip. we would be 2 imports down and no entertainment.

In the long run I think what we need is a goalscorer. Henley really would be the last resort.

It would be s spectacle that's for sure!! I seem to recall Newcastle filling their line up with fighters years back and that worked. Think we should adopt a cardiff ethos of you can't beat them (score wise) beat them (fist wise) we need someone tough who doesn't mess about and doesn't take crap! Henley, Penner, McMorrow would do me for the rest of the season, there would be a big change in results as the skill guys would have more time to play and score

Newcastle's proper fight filled year - the one post winning the playoffs with Payette, Mhyres, Cornish, and to a lesser extent Robinson and Ferone - was a complete disaster. The playoff winning year - the only season you could say Newcastle were an EIHL success - only had two out and out enforcers on the roster at a time - either Payette and Anglestad or Payette and Cornish, but with Ferone in there as well.

The only problem with bringing in a tough guy to make your skilled guys play a foot taller,is that you need skilled guys in the first place.......unfortunately we havn't got any of those worth shouting about so that ends that experiment.
You could put Henley and Penner in this years team and we would still be crap !!!!!!

You could put Henley and Penner in this years team and we would still be crap !!!!!! Not 100% sure that's correct coz there have been flashes this season where we've looked really good. My biggest moan is that they're constantly having to look over their shoulders coz there is no protection and therfore not able to play their own game. A couple of power forwards and a no nonsense d-man would do me. Then fit them in around the team depending on who we're facing (as opposed to just having them as a spare if/when we have injuries). But if the season's gone already, bring in a couple of meat heads purely to get retribution over those that have got us so far this season (Nickerson, Stewart (yes the goalie), Lloyd, anyone in a Sheffield jersey, etc).
