Was a horrible display! And I was feeling confident going in. Should have known it was misplaced.

Watched it on the webcast and we really didn't look the complete article at all and Steelers looked much faster on the ice. Higgins looked pretty anonymous, is he carrying an injury again or something?

3... 2... 1... Cage meltdown!
No need for anybody to go into meltdown imo. Yes, you didn't play well but you kept it close. I think I was quite surprised at your tactics of dump and chase (sometimes), it's not something I associate with Nielsen. You are pretty solid at the back and Modig looks decent (some poor rebounds right in front though). The biggest issue I see with you is your complete lack of threat on the forward lines, aside from our 7-2 thumping a few weeks ago of course.
It seems to be a Panthers team built to play like a Steelers team. Defences win leagues though......

Defences don't win leagues IF you only score two goals a game though Forney.
The difference tonight was your top line and Modig's rebounds.

Tactics Shorty, they use any trick they can up there to upset the opposition, their players probably get told well before that it's going to be delayed. (; Are you questioning my integrity? ;-) It's me that does the telling, and as soon as I hear it in my ear over the radio the teams are told, the Panthers were the first team to be told tonight as I was walking past your dressing room when the call came. :-)

How hard is it to put a camera at the red line ? This Sheffield webcast is pants filmed from inside one of the blue lines and with so many adverts on the ice ! Very. There are a total of 3 plug sockets in the bowl, non are on the red line. Plus, there is nowhere to stand the camera which can only go in the disabled bay which also happens to be were the TV wiring sockets are and the power sockets. We would love to move it, but the rewiring alone would cost a fortune. :-)

I agree :-) We have a piece of the jigsaw missing at the moment and hopefully the powers that be do something about it asap

Defences don't win leagues IF you only score two goals a game though Forney. The difference tonight was your top line and Modig's rebounds. That was partly my point. You've clearly got a defence that could win a championship but unless you start scoring more it will make it very difficult to stay the distance. We had similar problems last year, we couldn't score goals and it never really got sorted all year.
The big difference I could see was in fact our top line. In really tight games they are the players that can create a bit of magic to win you the game. I just didn't see the creativity or even the skill level in your forwards tonight to match that. I may be talking rubbish (having only seen you twice) but you seem very workmanlike, very much like the Steelers teams of old.

No you are spot on. We are way way short of quality in the forwards to make the difference in tight games. Being saying it for 2 months now, but kept being told we are in touch with the top even though most of those points are from teams in the other conference. Until panthers sign some real goalscoring quality. Graham looks a shadow of himself from 2 years ago. Panthers will gradually fall further behind.

Does the hit on Oakford now automatically get reviewed by the DOPES as Oakford got a head injury and took no further part in the game? - takes deep breath and counts to 10 - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So right Shorty. Just one more thing on the list of reasons why we so often hear the words from fellow Panthers fans......."no I'm not going to Sheffield,I don't go there". siege mentality

Went in short handed. Ended up short. End of. You had more players on the ice than us pantherdman, hardly shorthanded.

(i know fretter had a bad coming together with the goal post)? We lost Oakford during the first period i believe, then Higgins who was playing through illness, wasnt able to play the 3rd.

As I said previously I've been told by a Panther supporting mate at work (not you Gman) that everything was starting to look much better on the forward lines and that now you had found your scoring boots the rest of the league "better watch out". On last nights showing that couldn't have been further from the truth. I was shocked at how one dimensional your forward play was. It's far removed from anything I can remember Corey putting on the ice before.
I do however think your D is one of the best (if not the best) in the league. Very good at smothering the play, getting sticks and bodies in the shooting lanes. Modig covers his angles well and makes some great saves. His rebound control is a major weak point though, going on last nights showing.
I don't believe you need major surgery at all. Just 1 or 2 on the forward lines that can give you that creative spark that's clearly missing. Whether those players are available now is the real question.
No doubt you'll go and stick 5 or 6 past Coventry tonight now!!!

I think that we can see the same too but the mystery is as it is with you guys too we can either play very well or very ordinary on any given night.

Mosienko was playing through the pain barrier, grimacing every time he was on the ice. We were missing Hewitt, Kohn and Bois. So even taking into account Oakford and Higgins you were still not shorthanded in comparison to us.

We have been short handed since Robinson left. He was a major force in us grinding results in the bit of a run we had a few weeks back. Hugely influential player that made a big difference on the ice.

The 7-2 at your place, the 6-2 in Coventry, even the final period in the 2nd game in Glasgow, all 1 period collapses. It seems we lose all concentration at vital times and teams punish us. Consistency is key and I think whichever team of us, you, Belfast, Clan and Cardiff can get that right will be league champions this season.
