Good news that we have him in for the season.
I hope this isn't the end for Craig Kowalski and that they do get to share the duties for the rest of the season.
Wait till we see PantherDman's little face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wanted to get the initial news on here for everyone's information as quickly as possible, so now here's my opinion of the move.
I am delighted. Kowalski has been a fantastic netminder for the Panthers and a huge part of our success in recent seasons, but if he is unable to play the majority of games now due to injuries we cannot afford to be sentimental about it. Modig has impressed me a lot in the few games I've seen him play. Like K-Wall he is an undemonstrative netminder who does the simple things well and plays the angles excellently. His glove hand is like lightning too. His rebound control is not at the same level I don't think (one of Kowalski's biggest strengths) and will require adjustment from his defence, but overall I don't think we could have found a better short/longer term replacement. I hope we will see K-Wall make sufficient recovery to demonstrate his superb abilities again as the season progresses, but I feel much more confident looking ahead than I did a day ago.
If Mattias's early promise continues, whenever the time comes for K-Wall to call it a day - and in my opinion for his shirt to be raised alongside the other greats of our club - we might have found a very safe pair of hands to leave our netminding duties in.

Great news, really good keeper, the D will adjust to his style in no time, odd though because at Sunday's game I heard talks that he didn't get on with the team and didn't want to play over here. Let's hope that was just some fertiliser talk. Another point is that we picked up Killer last minute when St Pierre announced retirement and look at what he's achieved in a panthers shirt, let's hope Modig is here for a while and we can replicate that success with him! I do think that if killers groin has become an issue its never going to get better, I do injury rehab at work and once stress areas such as the groin (taking into consideration the nature of his job and movement patterns) that's never going to get better it will continue to weaken, think his playing days are numbered which is a sad thought. Great servant to the club and if this is his last year I'd like to see him get recognition at the end of the season.

Great news. Hope they don't share the responsibility too much as and when Kwall is back. Stick with Modig unless he loses form. Wouldn't like to see game by game rotation of the 2. If that means Modig plays every game from now on then so be it. I wouldn't have any issues with Kwall getting the odd start in a lesser game to keep him active.
If Kwall does come in. Stick with him until he maybe drops off.
Essentially as with any other situation. Play your number 1 at all times unless forced to change.

Ha, Pantherdman will be happy - he's been banging on about this for ages.
I have to admit I didn't think it would happen.

Genuinely shocked by this, didn't expect he'd stay for a full season, but pleasantly overjoyed with this news. Great netminder.

Great news! If both netminders are fit though it will be interesting to see how they are rotated with regards to so called smaller and bigger matches. Dont think kwall or modig will want to miss many games.

If K-wall does have to call it a day, we should get #retire33 trending.
Best nettie the EIHL has seen. Period.

As they say this isn't the end of Kwall but it could be the beginning of the end, and as i rate Modig from what i have seen so far, it could be a great bit of neat transition for him and us, with Kwall helping the younger guy on and off the ice.

Great to have them both signed up for the remainder of the season. Puts us in a very strong position in that department.
Would think this signals Kowalski's last season, but perhaps time has unfortunately caught up with him.

Another addition to the family come Feb may also have him re-evaluate his playing career. Lets not write the guy off yet tho' the extra time healing with help unless they decide to de-register him if its going to be a long time.

There are no limits to the amount of imports you can sign, just that you can only dress 11 (plus 1 dual national) in any one game.

Moran mentioned in the invterview that the idea was that all 3 Goaltenders would fight for the number 1 spot, Modig being backed up by Green until Kowalski is back then should we go an import skater down we'd have Kowalski and Modig dressed. Modig seemed happy with the idea saying all teams should go with 3 Goaltenders so there's some competition, he also said he had offers from other clubs including a Elite League club but decided to come back because he likes Nottingham, the team, management, the fans and he wants to win his first trophies.

Great news. Chuffed to bits. Modig's surprise in the interview at going home in the first place says a lot.

Lol! How I would love to go back through the posts where everyone was rubbishing my surgestions of 2 import nm's. "No import nm worth his salt would sign with out the guarantee of being first choice".... But I can't be bothered to trawl through so I will just forgive you all.
2 import netminders is the type of minor advantage the richest club should be using every season. Let's hope this sets a precident for the future. Bravo bravo panthers org, keep improving, marginal gain!
Competition for starting places in all positions please and robbo back, get him a visa and get him back here for as long as possible.

We haven't really got two import netminders though have we pantherdman, as reading between the lines K-Wall is nowhere near fit.
