Newly introduced this season The Dept of Player SafetyThis could be a step forward, or maybe more in line with the Ministry of Silly Walks.

Hugely positive step forward for the Elite League I believe.
Will be good to get decisions explained

Hugely positive step forward for the Elite League I believe. Will be good to get decisions explained If they do as they are saying, and it is handled in an impartial and professional manner, then I fully agree. Unfortunately this is the EIHL. My hopes are not high.

Have to wait for the first ban to see how this turns out. But if it works it will be a great feature as to why the ban was handed out etc

Oh dear, this means the "super duper slow mo,super enhancing video machine" will be back again. The one that saw Lepines shoulder hit Goertzens head even though nobody else could.
What's the betting that by the end of September we will have two very similar instances with two very different punishment outcomes........odds on I would say !

This is gonna be a disaster waiting to happen, Im with iginla , its alright introducing new things but you need a competant league to enforce things. Not some beer league

I can imagine the first video:
'As you can see Cohen is deliberately wearing a Panthers jersey, this violates one key rule: I don't like the Panthers. As such he will be banned for 10 games. The incident differs from the of the case of Jason Hewitt as he was wearing a Steelers shirt and I like the steelers.'

Should probably start with an official elite league rule book. Then get decent camera coverage at every game. Then video replays at the time of the incident. Then this.
They got it backwards like always

My thoughts exactly. Moray and some work experience kid who knows how to use YouTube = Department of Player Safety.

If this means the end of the cry to the league, sorry, referral system, I'm all for it.

That article identifies exactly the treatment I see being meted out to our players with no enforcer to protect them. I hope I'm wrong but I really do worry this season.

But Belfast have an enforcer and it happened anyway... I would love to see some proof that having an enforcer reduces injuries to a team as I am yet to see any evidence at all for the assertion. We had 2 heavyweight fighters last season and we had a ton of injuries...

I believe he did, pretty sure he got an assist Edit: Quote from the above article

Matt - In my view Keefe is tough but not an out and out enforcer.

Out and out enforcer or not.. he stands up for his players and has as many fights as an out and out enforcer.
You can't afford a goon in this league, that is why teams go with Keefe style players who play the enforcer role but can score.
Don't get me wrong I wish we had a player like Keefe, but I still don't believe an enforcer leads to less injuries or crucially to more W's in the wins column... in fact if you look at the last few "out and out" enforcers we had (Penner/Henley) they cost us more than helped us.
