Panthers confirm that Weaver will not be returning.
Will always remember the playoff goal on the feed from Ling.
Thanks for the memories and all the best.

Technology defeats me again - this was meant tom start the thread. Weaver leaving could give Corey a real headache-particularly if Stevie Lee does go to The States as rumoured. Where do we find any decent Brit D men?

Is Norton coming back yet?
If Steve Lee goes, then we have no British defencemen.

Well that's a real shock, when he said he wanted to keep playing I thought we would re-sign him up.
Just managed to read the OS & on the face of it, it appears to be his decision. Good Luck Weaves in your new adventure.
Massive loss to us with the shortage of good Brits around.

Sounds like Weavers decision. I really hope theres a plan to bring in a Brit D man or two!

Bit of a shock, had assumed with Norton going he was bound to be back. Interesting to see what Corey does from here.

Try sign Mark Richardson IMO. Can't think of another decent D man with experience. That's if he's not going back to devils.
Weaves will be a huge loss on the D though. We are looking very thin.

This would have been a massive problem had it happened last season. however with the new rule for dual nationals coming in plus the usual import slots, this is no longer a major loss. No doubt weaver was on a good wage, you'd get more for your money grabbing a decent player from the pool of USA/Canada than you would for having no choice but to spend it on a Brit, and a decent brit at that.
may be bittersweet, but it probably makes us stronger

Might be quicker if the Tigers release a list of players they aren't signing for next season?

Its interesting. From comments I've read, the fact that the EIHL teams will be allowed more imports seems to indicate the league will be better, the EPL is clearly better this season, with the additions of Weaves, Legue, Meyers etc - so on ice entertainment in both set-ups will be better. However, where are the young Brits going to get a game - Weaves and Meyers have taken 2 defence slots away already. Short term gain, long term pain?
Anyway, best of luck to Weaves - a class act on and off the ice.

They claim to be the league thst develops team gb youngsters then get players like Weaver, Meyers, Legue and Silverthorn. Doesnt make sense.

Decent player but I imagine vastly over paid. Just bring in a more skilled euro for less money. Good business.
Can we please follow Telford's lead and blow the league away? Many thanks

Weaver did really well and the back room staff to keep him on the ice virtually all season (I don't hunk he missed a match). However I thought sometimes he was understandably starting to look a bit slow. Corey has indicated that he is looking to get a younger quicker roster, so perhaps not that bad a thing. As some have mentioned it is a bit of a concern surrounding Stevie Lee at this point of time, waiting to see whether he returns.

David Simms @simmsey Why are people knocking Telford when Guildford, Slough (in the past), Steeldogs, and a like have all made big money signings in the past? Phil Cooper cooperphil156 @simmsey And they I understand have the financial backing not to go bust.

Is it possible Telford could actually become a EIHL club for the upcoming season would have thought it'd be too late but then again nothing surprises me much with hockey now

They've signed a few players who have played in the EIHL and are coming to the end of their careers? I'd have been happy to see Weaver back, but I'm not that gutted that he's gone. As others have said, chuck the money he was earning at a euro/dual national

Another one gone to Telford. This has got 1980s Solihull/Newbon/Taylor written all over it. Noisy upstarts splashing the cash, eventually crashing the top league. But it was built on foundations of sand. Will be interesting to see how (or if) this Telford thing develops.
