Any news? I see stuff from Hull about the failure of the LINN consortium to replace McEwan, but nothing else so far...
(Maybe I should've put this thread in the rumours section?)

Its a shame the LINN consortium did not take over at the Stingrays - do we know the reasons why the EIHL would not consider the takeover I believe a lot of fans will stay away and vote with their feet etc Ice Hockey in Hull has stagnated and it needs 'fresh blood' with new ideas - so one day Hull Stingrays can win the 'grand slam' instead of having to scrap for a play off place again

As far as I understand it EIHL board are standing by current owner until he wants to sell himself Therefore I assume he doesn't want to sell hence them not considering consortium

That's a shame, there will always be the rumours going round from some of the ex-players as to how bad they've been treated by the current owner The club will always have the 'stay away' fans who will boycott the club whilst its under its current ownership The club will always be one of the lower placed clubs within the league When you say closed shop pantherdman is this within the EIHL?

do we know the reasons why the EIHL would not consider the takeover From the scuttlebutt floating about the internet it seems the main reason the 'LINN Consortium' bid failed is that they weren't willing to actually buy the Hull Stingrays, rather they wanted the EIHL to, at a stroke, hand them the rights to a Hull-based team for nowt. To be honest I can't understand why the EIHL are facing criticism from some folks for this decision. How is the EIHL supposed to attract investors to the league if, at the whim of a majority, the investment such folks have put in can be nullified and their business effectively handed to someone else?

They've already done it. They let Belfast start a new club mid season without penalty. They let steelers liquidate every other season without penalty. The Precedent is set. Not that they follow precedents. As long as the dollars keep rolling in and stay in house, do what you want is the message I'm hearing.

That's why its not ideal the EIHL is run/managed by the owners of the clubs. I'm not sure what the solution is though long term as BBL Basketball is run in a similar way I belive.
The EIHL can't continue the way it is with the 'closed shop' etc or it will end up going the same way as the ISL.
