Bet news I have heard in a long time. Roll on next season without this distraction and build a team to win the league.

Fingers crossed! Although the IIHF don't announce who is playing in it until the 10th may so until then it's only a hope.

Yh not officially announced but there are big clues! The official CHL website has a collection of team logos, there are 42 logos in the picture and 1 is the IIHF, which if you take those out, you are left with the 41 logos, not sure why, but certainly no EIHL teams logos www.championshockeyleague.net/

Gutted if true, was such a great competition last year Yes it was a lot of fun, and was great to see another competition. However our main focus should be, at least until we're consistent, winning the league.

Enjoyed it a lot when we played but the mayhem it caused throughout the season is not worth it for me. I for one am glad we are not in it and said this on the previous thread about it.

But I am happy to let Belfast take the spot. keep it to league winners in that competition. The CHL is for the big boys and the CC for the likes of us Brits

Great news. CC, and it's effect on player recruitment ruined the whole season. Good luck to Belfast, you'll need it.

Really not bothered about European adventures so pleased if this is true.

Good, hope it's true and there's no 'European Adventure' next season.

Personally I'm disappointed. Riga was one of the best games I've seen at the NIC and Asiago will live long in the memory.

Another one disappointed here... how can taking the team to another level of competition be a bad thing?
And I just don't buy the assumption that many people make about the Continental Cup being the primary reason for us having a bad season with all of our injuries. Were either of Eric Werner's long spells of injury (30 games in total) caused or exacerbated by the CC? - no. Was Craig Kowalski's spell of 25 games missing caused by the CC? - no. What about Steve Lee's stretch of 16 games off, Brandon Benedict's 19 games missing, Robert Farmer's 9 games? - no, no and no. Plus others...
Henley & Loyns copped it in the CC, but by and large our huge raft of injuries this season had nothing to do with the competition.

Very disappointed also. I thought the Asiago weekend was great, though obviously wish the results had been better. I've not heard anybody say they regretted the trip.

Forcing injured players to play when they clearly weren't fit enough and then missing key league games.. bringing in players for the CC but when its over they get released, having the whole focus of the season in getting through to the next round clearly at the detriment of our league campaign.. to me this has had a very bad effect on our league campaign this season and I for one hope that this is refocused back on the league again next season...

I think it's an additional problem that MAY cause us a problem. Happy that we are involved when we represent the country by being league champs or secondary entrants when the original league champs don't go. But otherwise won't entertain being part of the competition for 'interests' sake. Without it I can understand people's assumption that it will be less of a distraction/injury curse.

Seems to be a lot of very selfish views here, many only dissapointed that they will miss out on a european jolly .
Panthers going into the CC would mean Belfast entering the Champions League.... right , do people honestly think with the current set up Belfast would compete with say Farasted of the SEL who have over a £3 million wage bill or even the swiss champions . It will be a absolute embarressment and will do nothing to promote the EIHL in a good light . Hell a EIHL can t even get a to the CC super final on a yearly basis .
Stick to domestic hockey, this season has been a car crash purely because Panthers/blacks/Neilson`s unhealthy obsession with it .

Good news in my opinion. Better to concentrate on the league for sure. We just don't have the depth in the squad to comlete in so many competitions. For now I reckon it's better to keep any euro games as friendlies.

Of course, should we win the league again, we'll be back in the Continental Cup. Best not win the league, wouldn't want to ruin the following season.
To blame our season on the Continental Cup lets a lot of decidedly average ability and below par effort off the hook.

Well the biggest team in the country should be carrying a 20 man roster for things like this then.
