Clan and Fife capable of up setting either team. If they can get out of the first period even or up by 1 both semi's will be great games.

As long as both games are close and not 10-1 wins for ANY team then I don't mind who wins in all seriousness. It's not us winning so I just want to be entertained.

This is one of the things that will be interesting. Witnessing the refereeing from a neutral perspective.

I thought Darnell was excellent on Tuesday.
If Hicks had been in charge there would have been numerous penalties, but Darnell let the players get on with the game and didn't blow his whistle for every little shove and face wash. It's a physical sport, let them play physical and keep your whistle in your pocket unless they step over the line.
Thanks to Darnell it made for a much better spectacle than it would had Hicks been in charge.
Probably the best refereeing display I've seen this season.

no surprises that sheffield won though Doom, i am the first to criticise the refs but have to agree with alot in that most criticism of the ref is after a home team loss... go figure...

I agree, but I don't think you'll find any criticism from the Coventry supporters either. Maybe he didn't follow the letter of the law, but he reffed the game how I like to see it, letting the players get on with it and turning a blind eye to the minor stuff that often disrupts the play. Only a few penalties called, even handed and didn't start calling the game differently the longer it went on...That suits me. Regards Doom

It was important that either Sheffield or Nottingham made the finals otherwise the crowds would be at a record low. Not many steelers fans turned up last year as expected and I expect that from Nottingham fans this year. If neither had made the final it could have been far worse.

Not many steelers fans turned up last year as expected and I expect that from Nottingham fans this year. If neither had made the final it could have been far worse. Having looked at the online booking system earlier, I don't think it will be a bad crowd with probably over 75% of the seats taken, maybe even more. Probably because of the success they've had in recent seasons many Panthers supporters purchased their tickets in advance, so the event was always going to have a decent turn out, but with the Steelers making it now that has obviously helped sales. Next year might be more of a test though, because I would imagine fewer Panthers supporters will buy in advance due to them failing to make it this season. If both Panthers and Steelers failed to qualify next season then that's when it would hit the EIHL hard. Regards Doom

have a horrible feeling that the steelers will be celebrating come Sunday night hope im wrong tho. Craig Peacock will miss the weekend for the giants through injury. I assume that Legue will be sidelined for the steeler?

I've said all along that the Steelers would win this weekend, just have a feeling as they have come into some good form of late. Doug put a very good team together really even tho' they have played better without him & Furby. Just hope its a good weekend whoever wins but would be great to see the Scot's progress.

Steelers are playing well but the other three teams have also earned their wat to the weekend and will present themselves well. Too close to call for me. Belfast or Braehead to win it all.

The last time the steelers were at the POFW was the season Alex Penner was in our squad! Then this season we sign Henley... Not quite as much of a nutcase but you get my point

My preview of the 2014 Elite League Play-Off finals weekend written for The Cat's Whiskers from a somewhat neutral perspective. I look at each finalists chances of taking the trophy. It's different this year...

Maybe, but have you considered that. If panthers had not made it lays year, more than likely many of those steelers fans would have turned up. In the same way,if steelers hadn't qualified this time perhaps those panthers fans wouldn't be flogging their tickets. Panthers are out now so I really don't mind who wins it, they will have earned it.

See I don't think that's true. I don't think fans are that into the rivalry in that if either team makes it the opposite fans won't turn up just for that reason. Maybe some fans are like that but I would never think oh steelers have made it so I don't think I'll be going.
