What is everyone's preference if your team does NOT win the PlayOffs?
(1) Make the Final and lose (2) Lose in the Semi's (3) Lose in the Quarter's (4) Finish 9th or 10th
Personally I think I'd rather lose in the QF...then have a stress-free weekend lol.
(This is in no way related to our current defecit to the Clan. Actually was thinking about it on Wednesday).

Got to agree with Sheffield fans here playoff weekend is crap if your team ain't there. Won't be going if panthers don't qualify as I don't believe there is sufficient entertainment to justify the cost.

I'd rather not lose! If pushed I'd rather lose in the final I guess.

As a Sheffield fan who has been the last two years when we haven't made it, I can't agree with this. I suppose it may be different as I don't go to Nottingham arena regularly, but it's still a good weekend of hockey, even when you're not playing. The final in particular last year was a great game. I also find that you notice good players more when you're not concentrating on your own team. Of course, it's nowhere near as good as your team being there, but I think it's still worth it when they're not.

Theses things happen in sport for every team but if our team doesn't get there then we will be finding something else to do and may catch some of the final on TV. The weekend just doesn't have the occasion or party atmosphere over the last few years to get us there without our team. Wouldn't go to an FA Cup Final if my team wasn't there (been to a Champions League final a few years back as a neutral and it sucked). Saying all of that I still have hope that we can get there of course.
Face painting, dodgy awards and 3rd and 4th place playoff doesn't make a party atmosphere and from what I understand the ticket sales are the lowest ever so far anyway.

Another interesting point is with ticket sales reportedly slower than previous years and the vast majority of ticket sales going to Panthers supporters I just wonder what the crowds will be like if we don't get passed the Clan.

I totally agree with you, its not the same but you definitely see a different perspective when your a neutral. Its a great weekend all round especially if you have friends from other clubs coming. People moan about the NIC but they still turn up. I have a feeling Sheffield may win this one as they are in good form at the moment. I just hope its a really great weekend for everyone.

It's not the same when your team are not there no question.
If we aren't there, then I'm going to support whichever of Dundee or Fife make it and I hope a couple of thousand Panthers fans will do the same.
How good would that be for one of those teams to have everybody behind them, that could be brilliant especially if it's against the Steelers.

Having missed the last four play-offs I thought about going this year but, having seen the price of £85 for the two days I will give it a miss again thank you! Whether your team is there or not, this is very expensive and a major reason sales are down I think.

I think sales are down for two reasons:- 1) the cost - that's a hell of a lot of money, and disposable income is down. 2) the EIHL have gradually skimped and stifled the weekend, reduced it from a full-blown proper 'event' to just a set of 3 games and a dumbass awards ceremony spread over 2 days. Virtually nothing off-ice any more - entertainment, stalls, whatever - and no investment in the overall experience. Quite frankly, the only thing that makes it special any more is meeting up with fellow fans that we don't see very often - in other words, the EIHL have reduced it to us making our own entertainment outside of game time. So if the league are going to be disappointed with ticket revenues, they've only got themselves to blame.

What's the cost like compared to the last 2-3 years?

What's the cost like compared to the last 2-3 years? Think it's the sAme, plus if you don't buy early you pay a much higher price.

Not bought a ticket for any of the days due to cost and meaningless event bar the games. If there and got to loose I'd like the team to be in that final. It's all about taking part so even though it hurts being runners up it is still a success in itself. Will be in the record books though not remembered as bridesmaids it's better than a wooden spoon.. Top 3 in the league and getting to those finals is a target for me.

Shouldn't the top four in each conference play off in the quarter finals, the winners of each game meet in the semi's / conference finals, then the 2 winners meet in the grand final?
That would make the final league games of the season more exciting and also ensure a Scottish team at the play off finals each year?

We had a definate Scottish qualifier in the past but that changed..,don't like it myself but if this happened therei might as well be no league but conferences from the fixture list .

I used to love being there when we did not qualify. The Panthers fans always used to make us feel wanted by their loving attitude to us. In Carlisle now, so will not be there to reciprocate. Good luck.

They are not Scottish..but are part of the Gardiner Conference! Ok at least one Scottish team would get through but it is the Elite League Play Off's not the Conference. We want the best teams through from the top 8. I think the Gardener Conference have a much easier ride than the others as it is..

2 teams from the gardiner would make it to the weekend though, hull and say breahead. So one Scottish team would be guaranteed, 2 possible. Also only 2 would make it from the edhart which would stop the big teams cruising to the end of the season.

We want the best 4 Teams from the 8 that qualified for the quarter finals, .. those teams who are playing the best at the end of the season. Regardless of which conference they come, from... Panthers were not one of those this year unfortunatley.. Let's see who are joining Braehead today.and which other one makes it on Tuesday..

Fife, really? Majority of fans support them? Youre having a laugh.
Dundee, aye. Blaze, happily. Even the Giants. But I would give up hockey rather than support the rude, violent, unpleasant fans from Fife, their dirty team or their unprofessional organistation.

Ah, there's nothing like a calm balanced argument... and that's nothing like - ahh, you've heard that one before! Thankfully, all of the Panthers fans going will be perfectly capable of making up their own minds as to what team they want to support, if any, without 'contributions' like that.

Fair enough, but it's pretty much the teams we have this season, except it would be panthers vs giants, cov vs steelers, breahead vs hull, fife vs Dundee in the quarters (I think, not studied the final league table.) so we would have probably competed a little hard to finish higher in the league and it would make the play offs more difficult to win. Just a thought, not saying it is the answer.

More concerned with ways to smuggle food and alcohol in than who I'm going to support tbh.

I'd also say that the Flyers fans are not violent, that's a ridiculous statement.
