I actually feel confident playing against the Giants. We've been the better team against them over the head to head series. Yes it's 2-2, but we've racked up some goals against them and lost 2 games - 1 due to a freak K-Wall mistake and another was a close 3-2 with half our squad missing. I keep saying it, but I don't think vs us they are much better. Their talent and skill comes when they don't drop points to the teams in the other conference, they won all their games in the BBT etc. It's those kind of results that make a team win the league, so congratulations to them. However, should we get through in the cup, we'll be playing them, so lets lay down a marker this weekend against them.

Can the Giants still win the league this weekend,I think they can on Sunday if Braehead,Dundee,Sheffield lose a game and the Giants win both games !
But as we start at 4pm,they would be picking up the trophy in a very empty quiet and probably dark NIC.

Giants would be on 72 points with 2 wins, Braehead's max point tally is currently 74 and Steelers' is 73, so presumably a defeat a piece and 2 wins and they're there (assuming Giants would win whatever decider would be used with the Clan)?
Edit - First tie break is regulation wins, so Belfast's 30 would be too much for Braehead (currently 18 with 12 to play).

Actually Dundee can also get to 73 I think, so they'd need to lose one too.

The Giants would win it if Braehead lose one in either Fife or Coventry,Dundee lose in Edinburgh and Sheffield lose in Cardiff.
I can see those results happening,so we had better beat the Giants at least once.
Having said that,at least we won't have to watch it,so glad we start at 4pm Sunday !

will be happy to take 2 points from the weekend, we only need 6 points and our next 2 games after Panthers are a home doubleheader against Blaze.Selfishly I want to see them win on home ice.

Im quite confident about this, think the team are in a better position than they was last time Belfast came to the NIC and that didnt turn out too badly.

Very good turn out from the Giants. More than playoff weekend.

Giants retain the Conference title I understand. All this means is that they are the best from those that have a harder set of fixtures in this league.

Awful start cost us big time.
Only when we started to play a more physical type of game did we get going.
After that Giants and coco the clown Murphy especially rode their luck.
Clarke mom? Really?

Panthers showed their hand straight away by just trying out new lines and not even chasing 50-50s. They very obviously were only concerned about the CC second leg. After the first I think someone said "there are 6,000 people here" and they tried to get something going, but it was only ever 60% effort.
And I don't blame them.

That was one of the best games I've seen at the NIC this season. Good start by Belfast helped by us being half asleep. Salters DESTROYED Keefe to kick start us and what a boost it gave us. We won the 2nd period and took our foot off the gas (quite rightly IMO) in the 3rd. Very happy to know that we can match belfast and with Werner and Benny to return, we should have a good shot at playoffs and the CC should we get past Sheffield.
Just to add...anyone who thinks Tom Norton isn't up to scratch in this league needs to reconsider their standards. He was chucking some of the hardest hits of the game and defending as well as anyone.
Salters ...bit like Miley Cyrus...CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!!!

After 34 seasons, and changing formats over the years. Just a statement that it appears we are being told that Belfast have won something. To me it is (as had been before anyone had 'won' this) just a fact that they have done far better than any other in our group. They have definitely been the best this season. The trophy winners come very soon starting with the Cup.

home from the match, poor start cost us the game and only really woke up after salters pasted keefe (which I was so glad to see) we miss a sniper so badly that sits on the net and scores those important goal like dab did for us, was hoping Henley and big jeff would drop the mits again but not to be, disappointed in francis tonight looked very lazy and greedy, also not sure what Clarke did to get mom, tho the girl presting it did have a Clarke game worn on...

I know the game counted for very little (for us anyway), but why did we persist with Loyns on defence when we had five very capable other defenders. We even had him on the penalty kill. When Salters and Farmer were in the box, they still played him on defence.
Higgins looks a great player.

Started slow, very slow. Great second period though. Then poor in the third. Other priorities maybe, I dunno. Decent team Belfast, can see why they are so far clear. Solid netminding, fast offense and a clever D.
Kalus had a mare, nice to see Salters put Keefe away.

I think as one of those people who paid for a season ticket, who has turned up week after week and still support (albeit only just the current league champs) I deserve and expect more than 60% effort. Anything less shows a total lack of respect.

With Benny, Werner and Murry still in the team we would have been ok tonight.
