Pretty gutted. He's been our most consistent player all season. A D man who would get into any elite league side easily.

Very rough translation ........
The Bietigheim Steelers have become just before the end of the exchange period once again active in the player market and committed the U.S. defender Chris Murray, who will get the last remaining foreigners license from the second division champions. Be goodbye to the Steelers , however striker Patrick Asselin , which will move to Denmark .
The 26 December 1984 -born Murray began his career in 2001 /2002, the Cape Cod Whalers in the Midget Major U18 League. In the 2003/2004 season of 1.89 meter tall and 84 kilogram Murray moved to New Hampshire University, for which he was on the ice for four years . His first in the AHL (American Hockey League) he had in the season 2006/2007. In the following years , he went on in the AHL . Due to a shoulder injury, the U.S. boy was sidelined in the 2012/2013 season . Last played defender for the Nottingham Panthers. Chris Murray will land on Tuesday in Germany and jump right in with the team in training.
Forward Patrick Asselin is , however, leave the Bietigheim Steelers to Denmark . He will return again to his former club Sonderjyske back , with whom he 2012/2013 champion in the season and the top scorer of the league was .
Coach Kevin Gaudet : " I am delighted that we have been able to recruit a foreigner in defense. Thus, the defense gets more depth. For Patrick , I wish all the best. Unfortunately, he did not put his performance from Denmark with us to Bietigheim . I hope he takes back to his former strength . "
We warmly Chris Murray in Ellental welcome and we wish our former striker Patrick Asselin all the best for the future.

No doubt a decent player, however I think he wasn't the best D man in the team just made to look a lot better due to more ice time with injuries which obviously means he should get more points. On more than one occasion he was very lazy with passes especially in own zone which lead to goals. However yes he is a loss but not hard to replace.

Good player and i rated Murray, not afraid to get stuck in and showed his passion after getting all those stiches mid-game before returing to play.
Good going forward but prone to a few too many mistakes in our own end for me and easily coughed up pucks at times - whether that was laziness or tiredness of being short-benched i dont know.
Shame for him to go though but if Oreskovic is the real deal then, for me, i would have had to cut either Murray or Grimaldi.
Best of luck to him in Germany

Well I suppose this was the DS suprise. Personally sad to see him go, but I suppose we are always prone to poaching from bigger leagues. Recent moves make more sense now, but hopefully Werner will be back shortly and as said "The bigO" looks the real deal. (I hope)

I would argue that his apparent laziness at time was more due to mental lapses and fatigue from the increased ice time with panthers being short benched Either way big loss for us this season, had shaky start IMO (possibly down to not playing last year) but really became a solid consistent part of our defence

Never really agree with players getting new clubs through the year. You signed a contract, you honour it.

You could argue that seeing as he didn't play much last season the least he could do is see out his contract this year and take the bigger contract next season. Sent from my HTC One using proboards

Fair play to Jade as he was not even close to being a top earner at the club. Disappointed in Murray leaving but these things happen. More upheaval for the club to deal with in this car crash of a season

A decent player, but took a lot of dumb penalties and a lot of them especially at the wrong time.
If the Germans think they are getting a high point scoring offensive Dman.......think again Jerry. He only got a lot of those points because he was playing 35 minutes a game and most of them came on the power play.
I think the Germans might be in for a shock !

Crikey some people can't judge a player.....
Total class in my opinion. Inevitably took time to settle due to previous injury but after a few games he was an absolute class offensive dman. Could defend, real tough, very smart, cycled the puck real well, lethal on the powerplay at the point, his lane clearance for shooting was something to behold.
Pretty clear to me he's been overworked since Werner & Henley went down. His minutes logged were ridiculous but necessary. I bet the blokes knackered, he's played more mins this season than the last few years put together.
Will miss him loads, quality player.

But he wasn't an offensive Dman,he was Becketts replacement,Werner and Weaver are the offensive ones,Murray got lucky he played so many minutes his stats make him look like he was Corey Neilson. Didn't hit much like Beckett, didn't fight a lot either and made some bad bad mistakes.
He was not class Jordanoooooo,he was decent and did a solid enough job though.

Personally I would never class Werner as an offensive D man, 2 way definitley but offensive no no no. Werner got 32 points last year, Murray already has (had) 40 points already this season (would say on pace for around 55/60). You say the amount of minutes he logged inflated his points out put, well Corey was always guilty of playing himself to many minutes which by the same token means his points production was inflated (you can't criticise one to compliment the other). Murray very much reminded me of Corey; could pick a pass (albeit I would say not as naturally, Corey's stretch passes were a thing of beauty), had a shot that caused chaos on the powerplay (although I'd say Murray was better at getting them through traffic. How many times did we see a Salters tip in from a Murray shot?) and both are (were) prone to taking ill advised 'stupid' penalties. Each to their own though I guess.

Murray is one of the best d men in the league. So simple but effective. If you had 6 murrays on your team hands down you are taking any trophy going. This is a huge loss to us. Anybody who can't see how good of a player he is really doesn't know the game. I have no issue with guys leaving us for a better deal. End of the day this is how he supports his family, you go where the money is.
Good luck Chris and all the best for the future.

You can be sacked from any job in life for under performance. However in this instance Murray is allowed to leave for Germany without any compensation being paid to the Panthers. And we wonder why this league has credibility issues........ Sent from my HTC One using proboards

Sent from my HTC One using proboards This might not all be down to murray though. Panthers would surely have to agree to his release in a case like this (not like when jensen 'retired') so the question is why have panthers let him leave?

Sent from my HTC One using proboards He is a professional hockey player playing for a professional hockey team. The relationship is a normal employee/employer relationship, wherein he or the club can part after serving a period of notice, which will be in his contract. Nothing to do with the credibility of the league.
