Why do we show him so much respect when he shows us so little. I was wrong to say team of convenience I admit but stand by my on ice respect opinion.
I'm not saying he was outright dirty but he was less than sportsmanlike and others would of been hit or offered a fight for acting like he did.

Is this the same Matthew Myers who after the game skates around the whole arena clapping? He showed plenty of respect. And as for him being dirty: he was trying to get his team 2 points or at least lift them in any way he could. The Devils pay his wages - he doesn't have to show any respect to us when it comes to the game anymore - he's all about the devils. And so he should be. He did the same for us for years.

And so he should but doesn't mean we shouldn't hit the guy. Too much sentiment. Just because he claps wen he finishes a game doesn't absolve on ice behaviour. I said he wasn't out right dirty but the kind of moves that normally instigates a hit or two to keep him in check.
He did do the same for us I agree but he got the treatment from the opposition as a result.

I cant help thinking he just gets picked because the fan wants a photo with him. In my view he wasnt their best player last night, in fact I thought he was poor.

If you have that impression because nobody has sent him flying, that's probably something to do with the fact that he's pretty good at taking hits and carrying on with the game... one of the things that made him such a valuable player to us.

Bizarre thread. To hit Matthew Myers you have to get close to Matthew Myers, not many players can do that. Even when he's in the corners or against the boards he's so strong that he can shrug off opponents. He can do his fair amount of agitating as well. I remember the mother of all turtles several years ago now and he drew the penalty. Absolutely quality player and someone we've missed big time this year.

Myers retired at the end of last season IMO.
