Just hearing on twitter we have signed American Defenceman Joe Grimaldi who will ice today. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=9426Seems to have only played 7 games since 2011 and doesnt seem afraid to drop the gloves. From stats alone he seems to be a bit of a budget signing in my eyes but I am happy to be corrected. We desperately need bodies at the back, shame its taken this long.

Think hes been signed for a couple of weeks. But due to him not playing much thats probably the reason he hasnt appeared for us.

He's played this season in norway. 50pims on 6 matches. He looks a feisty little devil.

I thought that he looked solid enough and no mug. No doubt we will find out more on Thursday. He is a good age and some representative stuff early on looks good.

Decent d man with a nasty streak that's always welcome. For his first game in a fair while that was a good showing. V. promising.

Obviously it is noticeable that he didnt play last season. One wonders if it is injury related, or did he try a career change, which didnt work out?

As I've just posted in the game thread...if we don't christen him Joe "The Grim Reaper" Grimaldi then something is wrong! Absolutely love him!

Great to finally have another defenceman on the roster, looked solid enough and seriously wound up the Blaze players but the biggest plus for me was getting Benedict back up front, made a big difference this afternoon. Wonder where we'd be if Grimaldi had come in before the Hull game?

Very good point mate, crucial to have players in their natural positions. Thought Murray looked alot happier with a D man back their helping out as well.

Interesting to see another ex Gwinnett Gladiators player. Also that he had an ankle injury I think 2008/9.

Agree with Mark, biggest positive is freeing up Benedict to go back where he belongs.
Thought it was an OK debut, can't really see myself calling a guy who turtles Harvey "the Grim Reaper" though, sorry Tom.

Suprised that Rosenborg let Grimaldi go. I believe that he would become our best defenseman this season if he just could controll his temper and avoid penalties.
He got 5 games plus preseason for Rosenborg and if I remember correct he got 2 suspensions (both for roughing) in that short time. In his fifth game he broke his neck and that is why he has so few games this season. Hasn't played for Rosenborg since he got injured.

Smart play, got the pp. how he got a penalty when he didn't drop the gloves??? Penalised if we drop em, penalised if we don't .
Thought he did great coming straight in cold.
Can we sign 4 cheap d men, then spend a mill on a top line? Plus 3 enforcers.

He played with K-Wall in Gwinnett (2007-8), so that's probably the connection that's seen him land here!
Thought he had a sound debut, and showed enough to prove he will be an asset on the blueline for the rest of the season.

Liked the look of this guy. Just what we've been missing.
Tough, uncompromising, desperate Dan lookalike of a D man.

Just seen his tweet to a guy from Belfast chirping him.
The guy says "enjoyed seeing you being used as a punchbag"
Grimaldi replies "no problem! I enjoyed drawing a penalty leading to us scoring! Love a good hater"
Is it too early to assume he's gonna be a brilliant character to have?

The addition of Joe can only help - add Henley and Lee to it and we are pretty tough

Is he a temp or permanent signing? Liked the look of him and think he will be useful especially if he's got that nasty edge.

If we keep Grimaldi, would you think we would let Ryan go or try and keep him as a spare?

If we keep Grimaldi, would you think we would let Ryan go or try and keep him as a spare? JS will take a back seat I would guess then wait till the others are finally fit before minds are made up.
