Sounds to me like Makela is not going to be playing anywhere else and has made himself available if we need him again. We are probably keeping him registered as a player just in case we do need cover for any future injuries.

I can't see the sense in him not being kept on at the moment, whatever standard of defenceman he is, he's better than Brandon Benedict.

Fingers crossed and also maybe Loyns injury is not as bad as feared. It would be great if they let the fans know a rough timescale for the injuries.

Maybe he has other commitments at the moment. That he was happy to fill in when he did but he can't at the moment and he will be available again later if needed. Could be a reason why he isn't playing anywhere else this season. Who knows what his reasons are but sometimes life is more complicated than it seems. Having a player registered with us who was willing to drop in at short notice for cover and is willing to do the same again is no bad thing.

Yeah it's great, but we need him now don't we? If it's his decision, fair enough, good luck to him but we should be looking for a similar signing who doesn't have issues that prevent him playing for us.
On Friday, we could, I think, be down to 2 imports and 2 brits of our recognized defencemen?

It definitely looks like he could be coming back at some point. The panthers seem to be doing the best in that article to announce he's left but stressing he could return

Knee surgery= long recovery time, whatever the problem is. Trust me, I know, I've had one operation a few years ago, waiting for another one now and a friend of mine had ACL, MCL and LCL surgery that kept him away from sport for 18 months.

Doesn't sound too clever certainly. Could mean a keyhole job or something though? (Straw clutching?) It's alright though, like RunningMan says we've got this Bruce Henley showing up soon. Maybe add Jordan Ling as extra cover?

Most of it is keyhole surgery now anyway. And my problems are probably the easiest to fix ( torn cartilage). I couldnt think about any form of exercise for six weeks.

I'm quite looking forward to mine. Time off work in winter so I don't have to freeze my nuts off working outside. It's not really a complicated operation either, the recovery time is mainly waiting for the swelling to go down. It's more uncomfortable the painful

I'm not sure why we can't at least give him a pay-as-you-play deal. Makela is going to want to keep fit, he's got nothing else to be doing and we certainly need him. It helps both parties.

We'd only really be talking a month. Food on the table for them and all that!

Trouble is it's over Christmas, and if he is as family orientated as led to believe, I would be very surprised to see him soon.
