We should sign him, and he should fight every week, a 1 second in pantomime job like the good old days.
Practice makes perfect.

He is a very good player and has an eye for the goal, he would be perfect.

I have to say that I've never really rated Farmer all that much... not for club teams, not for GB. That said, if he doesn't have something else overseas lined up and if he has some kind of arrangement with the Panthers... then yes - grab him. I still suspect that he wouldn't be as much of a plus as some seem to think, but he could still contribute. And - cynical view here - if we have him signed up, then nobody else does.
But I'm not going to believe it's likely until or unless it happens. Just because he iced for us pre-season doesn't mean he's guaranteed to come here.

I never really rated him that much until that last season with braehead when he seemed to come of age. His points contribution was very handy that season IIRC.
Seem to remember him being handy on penalty shots too.
100% sign him up.

Yes sign him now , cover for D is what we need and an extra Brit forward coming in that has a proven points score record will give us options to move players around to cover for the missing d men . Also gives us options on how many lines we can put out when all are back from suspension or injury , also the imports will be playing for games this will be healthy competition. Having Farmer in the team will also mean we can rest some players an extra shift , like Lahco or even Clarke , Rotation of players and rest will be much better for our team . Staying in the CC is going to put added pressure on our players , and you only have to look at our games played directly after the early CC round to see we where not concentrating on the league games, the minds of the players was still on the CC games just played , I will be watching to see what effect the latest stint in Italy will have on our team when they return for the next three matches after this trip abroad.

If Farmer comes back to the UK, I think it's pretty clear that he'll be a Panther.

He could always get a job in Italy - he'd be the toughest guy in the league

Big boost to the ranks, pitty he couldn't have made it for tonight tho as were likely to be missing a few players with injury and suspensions.

Difference being our cheque book is (and always has been) made of paper as opposed to the rubber variety invariably used up t'road You seem have to left Belfast out of your 'official cheque book hockey' post too - can't think why?

Said a fan of a team that had a good bunch of brits but still picked up peacock mid season too, does that make them a chequebook hockey club as well?

Now come on texpef, we all know that the Giants dont need to pay big wages because Belfast is such a great place to play hockey. Thats how they get players so cheap!

the post was a tongue in cheek joke comment, nothing malicious about it. it was mainly about the extra imports that both Panthers and Sheffield have signed...think Panthers are at 16 at the moment are they not? i am sure that prior to the season starting there were plenty of fans from around the league mentioning that they thought the budget in Belfast would/had been affected following on from some problems last year. this prompted many to say that Belfast would struggle due the reduced budget, think DC said after leaving for Shuff that the Giants budget would be 4th or 5th in the league. fact is Belfast Giants are probably on a sounder financial footing now due to the owners being the Odyssey Trust. Plenty of fans also speculated that judging by the recruitment the Giants had made, the best position they could expect was 5th or 6th.
