Credit where it is due.
I think he is growing from strength to strength with his coaching, and last night shows how much he progressed since his early days as player coach.
The team that he has put together behind the bench deserves its plaudits as well, from Strachan to the more unsung members Goodridge, Poundall and Coles. The fitness levels of the players are very impressive, and despite being short benched last night, they never took their foot off the gas.

As much as i, like the rest of the panthers fan base, enjoyed the success last season this is another season with a clean slate..
Nielsen has received his plaudits for all his success over the seasons deservedly so, (lets not forget it still took him 5 seasons to win the league as one of the so called power houses of the EIHL) but lets not get carried away with this season.
So far we have done ok as far as results are concerned (with imho some pretty mediocre performances) but given that sheffield seem to have a bottomless pit when it comes to making sure success is bought up the M1 and that most if not all other teams have improved as squads it may be best to see what happens at the end of the season...
given what we have lost from last years team imho we are still short of a good quality brit (cant believe we didnt get either peacock or hill), we are light in quality at the back and are still missing a sniper... Maybe we wont need them but i still believe we do...and this again imho is a coaching decision isnt it?

I have to say, I do like the fact we see the team perform differently against different opponents. The objective was clear vs Riga, they were small so winning on the physical edge gave us a boost, we'll probably try and be physical against Belfast since they're missing Keefe.
I think Neilson has a unique gift of changing and altering strategies at the right timewhich makes it hard for teams to play against.
With the games this year, yes the performances haven't been great, but is anyone telling me they would rather play like an NHL team and be winning 50% or playing like us and only losing 1 so far? The fact we've beaten Belfast once and Sheffield twice shows we are turning up in the big games. In those classic words of GM..." You can only beat what's put in front of you"
My only concern is how long Neilson will remain at Panthers!

So far we have done ok as far as results are concerned (with imho some pretty mediocre performances) And there lies your problem. We have won 14 out of 15 games, and you say it is "ok". It is more than ok. Its a fantastic start to our season, and I would be surprised if we have ever started a season so well. So what if we have not won "pretty". Any team in the Elite league would have been nailed yesterday, including your obsession from up the M1. Just shows that given any opportunity to have a moan you will. I bet you could fall out with yourself if you were the only person in a lift.

I think Corey has been quite honest about the standard of performance we've been putting in, just have to listen to his interview from after the Hague game (and even more so the Bipolo game ). IMO, it's good to see that he's looking for more from them and isn't blinded by the good results that they can improve.

I think Neilson has done very well in adapting our methods for different opposition.
Tex the lack of a high end Brit replacement may be financial rather than a coaching decision....
Regarding performance levels I think we played really pretty well against the Hague and away against Coventry in the Cup. The performance against Riga for me was one of the top 5 I can recall in 11 seasons of supporting. Unbelievable intensity and commitment from start to finish!
