And who'd have thought the Panthers would ever skate out to the instrumental version of Number of the Beast? (Shaggy, this is what it was, took me a while to hear it too, but it definitely was NotB) I'd have to say, that's a masterstroke, for me, but other opinions are available. Aaaarrgghh!!! I was sitting there thinking it sounded like Iron Maiden, but I couldn't for the life of me make out exactly what it was. Actually, I've always thought that the start of "Phantom Of The Opera" would be the perfect intro music. Its a cracking thing that version of NOTB.. I thought Fear of The Dark would have been a good one too..

Noooo, the organ just seems so dated now, while it was great in the old place, I just don't think organs work in a big modern arena. I think the music is a bit better this season, as somebody mentioned earlier the 'Teenage Dirtbags' compilation album has been played a bit this season with all the late 90's pop punk which I think works quite well as hockey music...I definitely heard The Ataris version of the Boys of Summer on Saturday (honestly it works) I just cant get enough sounds great when fans chant it off their own backs but with it being played so often the actual song just isn't fast enough for hockey in my view.

I was being a bit tounge in cheek about the organ but try telling Chicago Blackhawk fans they don't work in modern arenas! That said its not used alone, (as in most NA hockey arenas) traditional hockey music is mixed with predominantly rock music for the best of both worlds.

To be honest anything about Music is subjective, you could get a choice of 20 tunes and someone will come up with the 21st option.

The other season there was a "Send in your Requests" and they would of received almost everything. As there would be no definative winner, GM's choice sticks. I remember a peice about the DJ at MSG for the Rangers. He played something like 50 seperate pieces of music during the game, a seperate DJ did the intervals... He had set playlists for all situations like "winning + PP + 1st Period" or "Lossing + PK + 2nd" etc. The same happend with the "musical instruments" it failed, just as GM knew, so now he can say "We tried it but it failed"

To be honest anything about Music is subjective, you could get a choice of 20 tunes and Gary'll still play Cotton Eyed Joe. Fixed for you

Easy solution: everyone brings an iPod (other brands are available) to the game. When the whistle blows you press play and listen through your headphones. When the game restarts you press pause. Everyone's happy!

Just for what it's worth. I thought the play off music was great.
High energy, some quirky and only a few cringe worthy tracks!!
Good job.

Agreed. And the use of the scoreboard was so much more than we ever get out of it.
Aside from still advertisiing WWE as coming to Capital FM arena in November 2013.
I'd love to walk in to the first game next season and be wow'd be a whole new intro, etc. Personally I think the build-up should start at least 15 minutes before the game.

Every game or just the opener? Every game, but the opener should be something special on it's own too!

It's an age thing. If you want better music it needs to be picked by someone from an age bracket under retirement age. The music at all events sets the excitement and atmosphere. Even my eight year old cringes at a lot of the happy clapper crap played at the arena.
