So during the Cardiff Vs Esbjerg game Conboy recieved a ban for headbutting an opposition play after they had knee'd (resulting in injury) Devils NM. He has been banned for 5 games with the possibility of more. Do you think its fair that a pre season game ban gets carried into regular season ? I agree that what he did was stupid before I get jumped.

You do the crime, you do the time. The status of the game is irrelevant.

I agree with the ban, however this was a game outside of the EIHL. There was no touch icing being played which is not an elite league rule.
After viewing the event- it was more of a lovetap than an actual headbutt.
LaCosta is out injured as a result of the deliberate injury (this went unpunished!!!)
It is a fair call on Conboy- rules are rules, however the circumstances around the incident should have been handled a lot better. But then again it's Tom Darnell so what would you expect?

Haven't seen the incident, but a ban is a ban to me. If its five games, it should be the next five Cardiff play. Can't enforce a 'pre-season' only ban.

The bigger point in all of this is yet again the complete waste of space that our so called EIHL officials are.
I am in no way condoning the headbutt.....however when you have a player running a netminder that resulted in him being pretty much knocked out and no called made then it is easy to see why the red mist comes down.
What Conboy did was stupid and deserves a ban but if Darnell had done something about the hit on our NM none of this would be being discussed.
I wonder, on review, how many games limpwrist will be getting for what he did? Hmmmm.....not a player in the EIHL so nothing I guess.
Also, fine to use video to review match penalties......how about using them to review the competency of the EIHL officials?

Before you decide to come on here and criticise EIHL officials etc for having the audacity to punish a player for head-butting perhaps try and do some research. Friendly games featuring teams who play under IIHF-affiliated national organisations have to be played under IIHF rules. As such, penalties handed out as a result of such offenses in such games can and do get passed on to the respective national organisations to deal with or, when judgement has already been arrived at, meter out the punishment. A couple of seasons ago I believe it was Derek Campbell who picked up a ban playing in Australia during the summer and as a result missed a few games in the EIHL serving his ban. As for the incident only happening because the refs didn't get on top of infractions by oppositions, well that's why fighting is punished comparatively lightly. If Conboy had followed the 'correct' course of action and dropped his mitts he'd have got a much lighter punishment for standing up for his NM. Instead he did the cowardly thing and has received appropiate punishment.

Ban now reduced to 1 game so he will just miss tomorrow's pre season friendly.

Presumably a Blaze/Devils game is played under EIHL rules, so the suspensions etc would count.

Ah right, yes you probably would, which almost certainly means that won't happen Probably best if Andrew doesn't lay the nut on anyone, just to be sure. On the original incident, looking at the report on Devils' website it doesn't sound like the kneeing directly led to the headbutt, there being the first period break in between? If it'd been a red mist type thing I could probably see why he'd be riled up.
