All sounds very good and I would a "Champions League" style trophy to play in. NB seems very keen on going to Europe so hopefully he pushes it as well as other European teams. As for the continental cup, I hope we get the first round at NIC which should improve our chances. Then go to Rouen for the final round.

I assume this would replace the Continental Cup?
The problem then becomes, how many UK teams could afford mid-week plane trips to Europe to compete?

Is this taking over from the Continental Cup? With all the changes in hockey I would not be surprised. But surely there are loads of teams that would miss out for the few allowed in this league/tournament.Not really opening up for all that way. By pre-tournament staging to get into it.Is this a yearly format towards the final league OR is it just a one off to see if we are good enough , full stop? So if we lose out we end up missing out altogether?

The article sounded like it'd be a competition like the Champions League in football, so the qualifying would be as it is there to whittle down the entrants before the group stages each year, presumably the relative quality of the various leagues would dictate whether you went straight to the group or had to qualify first.

If this came off then I guess it would be similar to when Manchester Storm took part in a similar european league. They competed in that league and other teams took part in the Continental Cup. The Continental Cup tried to be bigger at one point. They had 3 British teams in it one year. Sheffield hosted a group. On the same weekend Cardiff hosted a group that also had the Panthers in it (yes our first european adventure was to Cardiff). Our biggest ever win against a European team was when we beat Lada Togliatti 7-4 on the Friday morning with a few Panthers fans and a load of drunking Russian sailors watching (who's ship was in Cardiff docks).
Sheffield were in it as they won the league, Cardiff had won the playoffs and we had won the B&H CUP. If I remember correctly Manchester also played in the European League the same season as well.
