Always good to say you've been once but the sightlines are very poor for the amount of money they charge. only area without a screen is the away section. Big thick iron railing blocking the view, very similar to Manchester.
Brilliant news for Cardiff Devils tho' hope they start it soon.

only area without a screen is the away section. Not true anymore. There was one this season just gone.

I like the BBT but about blooming time they get a proper rink instead of a flat pack one!

Would be great if they sent the BBT to Durham and get the Wasps back in action!

Wouldn't mind one of them up here! Hell, if it put top flight hockey back in the North East i'd take the BBT

3000 seater. Probably just the right size for the devils.

1st post here...Devils fan in peace!
Firstly....well done Panthers on your great season. Well deserved.
3000 I think is about right for the Devils. Given our average gate over the last few years in the BBT I think if we get towards the 3000 mark in the new venue (give it a year or two though) it will be a job well done.
I'm hoping that the new venue and the raised awareness of Ice sports in the City will help get bums on seats. Plus no doubt all you guys will be flocking over to South Wales to have a look in 2014/2015.
All in all, this has got to be positive thing for Ice Hockey in the UK. It has been a long time coming and there has been a massive amount of work behind the scenes by SORAC and the Devil's organisation.
Happy Hockey Days all round I reckon. Just remember to get down to the BBT this year. Last year of awful sightlines but the match night atmosphere usually makes it a trip worth making for Away fans.
All the best for 2013/14 and look forward to seeing you down the Bay.

The way Regan was talking about the new rink a few months back though he was saying it'd be rivalling the arena teams, etc.
Based on that, 3,000 is smaller than I expected unless there's potential for expansion.
Good luck to them though. About time they left the BBT!

3000 seater. Probably just the right size for the devils. What was the seating capacity of the old WNR - I remember it was somewhere around the 3000 mark It will be about the right capacity in the new venue

Glad to see Devils finally get their home. That artwork is good. They've even managed to put the Hull fans in it! ;D

What was the seating capacity of the old WNR - I remember it was somewhere around the 3000 mark It will be about the right capacity in the new venue The WNIR was 2,500, that included standing, the new gaff will be a 3000 seater, if we can fill that or thereabouts we will certainly compete with the Arena teams. We have one more season in the BBT, then its onto the new gaff. Its a dual pad, the main being Olympic size, and the secondry one the size of the BBT surface.

Also if you google ISV fly thru you ill see what the whole complex will looklike when it is finished, its a 350 million pound complex, the twin pad complex is 16.5 million.

Looks very ambitious and at a time of a global downturn.
This will either make someone very rich, or very poor.
Really hope it works, dont want it to go like the Sheffield Steelers 'Yes' project

All looks very nice...but excuse me for being cynical How is this being financed and when will the whole project actually get in to profit There seems to be a big risk especially if they over run the budget.

Really hope it works, dont want it to go like the Sheffield Steelers 'Yes' project Believe me we are in a far better position than what Sheffield were, Our rinks ground breaking will be very very shortly, and we will be in it for the season after next. With the proper marketing and hopefully some good results if we can add just 1000 people thru the turnstiles we will compete with anyone, our biggest setback at the moment is sightlines, we all know that, with a new gaff and good views we very well could be on our way.

I hope you are right, I really do. I would be willing to bet 10p that in a few years there will be a shiny new arena in the middle of a building site, I just cant see it all happening. As for indoor ski slopes, which I use quite a lot, they are well known for making no money.

With all due respect the people building the rink and the ski slope are also building the houses, apartments, bars , restuarants, hotel etc. Cardiff is a Capital City, and certainly not a Sheffield or whatever. We will be just fine thank you, Cardiff is one big time up and coming City in Europe believe me. And guess what we have a premiership football team.

Remember Dublin was one big time up and coming city 10 years ago. I hope it all works out well but I wouldn't be surprised to see some elements of the scheme dropped and more housing built instead.
